Today is the first day of the Atlantic 2007 Hurricane Season. Predictions from the NOAA show this to be another active season with 13 to 17 named tropical storms. 7 to 10 of them can become hurricanes and 3 to 5 of them will be major hurricanes. Here is a graph from NOAA:

According to NOAA, “An average Atlantic hurricane season brings 11 named storms, with six becoming hurricanes, including two major hurricanes”. Here is another chart showing the track of storms starting in the main development region which is depicted by the green box.
If the predictions are right this year, it will be a very interesting hurricane season. We all hope it won’t be. Hurricanes are extremely fascinating the way they develop and gain strength, altho we know the death and destruction these monstrous storms can cause. To everyone, I hope you have a safe and uneventful hurricane season. To mother nature, please keep it a tame tropical storm season!
