AirTran Increases Hostile Bid for Midwest
Filed Under AirTran, Delta, Midwest, News, US Airways
AirTran has raised it’s hostile bid for Midwest. They have now offered $15 a share from the original $11.25 a share and extended the deadline until August 10. Midwest continues to oppose AirTran’s offer for the company.
Midwest believes it can increase annual revenue for the airline by increasing its fleet and being a code-share partner with Northwest Airlines.
This is another interesting merger between two airlines that we will have to wait and watch. Personally, I don’t think Midwest is going to accept this new offer. Altho, things can change extremely fast in this industry. This sounds like it may play out just like the US Airways bid for Delta.

As a Kansas Citian I am not happy about this. Midwest is our second largest carrier here. AirTran sucks. Midwest is awesome…as far as airlines go.
I like the blog. I’m have my private but out of currency because of work and family demands. Can’t wait till the kids are a little older and I can get back to flying…
Hey Chris! Thanks for your comment! It is very interesting to hear what people think in the Midwest about Airtran trying to take over Midwest. I know probably most people do not want to see it happen!
Good Luck with the flying! I hope you can get back into it soon!
