The long-anticipated replacement aircraft decision is here for US Airways. They announced on June 18, 2007 that US Airways agreed to terms with Airbus for planes to replace retiring narrowbodies, an additional 10 A330s, and a commitment to the A350 program.
US Airways Airbus Order
- 60 single-aisle Airbus A320 family aircraft to be delivered beginning in 2010, for replacements in the narrowbody fleet (This is in addition to 37 already on order).
- 10 A330-200 aircraft with deliveries starting in 2009 and flexibility to convert to A330-300 or longer range A340s.
- Confirmation of our commitment to the next generation A350 XWB (eXtra Wide Body) program, adding two firm orders for the plane and bringing the total firm commitment to 22, with deliveries beginning in 2014.
There was some rumors a while back that US Airways was going to release a statement to buy the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. There has nothing been said about that, but we do have confirmation that US Airways is continuing to buy Airbus aircraft.
