On June 21, 2007, a passenger took the situation of being stuck on the tarmac for hours at JFK in his own hands.
On Delta 5637, operated by Comair, from New York JFK to Detroit Michigan never left New York for 4 hours, and then the flight was canceled! The airplane’s air conditioning was broke so there was no circulation of air on the ground. Mr. Ollila, 37, is the founder of V.I.O. Inc., a Michigan company that makes the tiny cameras, which it calls “wearable video technology.” He recorded his experience and interview with the pilots he had about the whole situation. This is an unbelievable video that you need to watch. I don’t know all the factors that contributed to the pilot keeping the passengers on the airplane, but if the passengers want to get off and demanding to get off because of reasons like this, they should be allowed. Airline crews cannot hold customers on the plane as hostages. From being a crew member, bad weather and pressure from the company can create a hard situation to handle. This is a professional job and we need to handle it like a professional job.
The problem is the airlines keep forgetting is this is a customer service oriented business, and the airlines keep forgetting about that. The airlines are more worried about moving their planes and crews where they need to go. Okay, take a look at this personal video he shot! It is unbelievable.

This is incredible! I can’t tell if these situations are getting more common or if they’re just being reported more often. Either way, it’s completely inexcusable how airlines are treating passengers. I wish teleportation was possible!
You know Betty, I was wondering the same thing! I think its a little combination of both of those. I understand how hard it is to be a passenger sometimes and it can be real headaches. and if its a headache for you in the back, it is probably a real headache for us up front.
Teleportation would be awesome! Altho, I would be out of a job
I can say from experience that not only can it be frustrating for passengers in the back, it can be very frightening as well. Unfortunately, I’m afraid to fly so any change from the normal rigamoroll convinces me my life is in danger. (I’m working on this.) A little head’s up from the captain or flight attendant calms my nerves immediately.
Yeah, I guess there are still some holes in the teleportation strategy
Wow!! thats horrid!
Wow! This is something else!
I had to stay three hours inside the airplane in Orlando once… and one hour in SĂŁo Paulo.
Now my co-worker stayed from 9:00AM to 2:30PM inside a Delta airplane in JFK this Wednesday… that was bad!
That is terrible!! I don’t think I could ever keep the passengers on the plane for that long just sitting!
I know you would be sleeping in the cockpit! Or browsing the web on your cell phone! — LOL
