Boeing is flying high a day after the unveiling of the amazing new Boeing 787 on July 8, 2007 (7/8/07). The ceremony took place in Everett, Washington at their big plant. The ceremony was broadcast on the internet and satellite tv yesterday. It is estimated they had over 100 million viewers making it the largest corporate tv and internet broadcasting in history. Were you able to watch this breathtaking and history making ceremony? Boeing says the new 787 Dreamliner is going to change the way we fly!
The new ‘green’ 787 has technology that will be the first commercial airline to help the global climate. First, the 787 is the first commercial airline to be made of mostly composites. It is lighter than traditional metal that our airlines are made out of today. With the decreased weight, the 787 will burn 20 percent less fuel than airplanes similar in size, and reduce carbon emissions. It will also have quieter takeoff and landings to help reduce noise pollution.
The first test flight of the airplane is going to be in late August or September. There will be a total of 6 airplanes in the test flight. Completion of the testing is expected around May 2008 with certification shortly after, and the first airline to have the 787 delivered will be All Nippon Airways (ANA). So far, 677 of the Dreamliners have been order! This is a huge number since it just unveiled yesterday and no test flights have been done. Yesterday, Boeing changed the way we are going to fly in the future. Are YOU Ready?! I absolutely cannot wait!

John the picture look great…..
Thanks Mybloggo! The airplane is amazing! When I see it in real life, I think it’ll take my breath away!
That’s huge! How many decks does it have? I’m really curious about its interior.
Hey John,
I think you are probably itching to get your chance to fly one, right?
Wow I love this plane! Do you want to fly it?
Looking at beautiful aeroplanes has always made me want to become a pilot - but I dont think I could…
The way in which major polluters market their products using the “green” factor is enough to make one puke “green”. The incredibly stupid audience laps it up as though Boeing is going to stop global warming by burning ever more aircraft fuel. “I must save the polar bears. I think I’ll fly over the arctic to watch the last bear drown and the last villages of native northern peoples disappear.” I’m sure that will help.
Let’s all fly to Disneyland and see their robotic animals, their robotic thrills, and their robotic and mindless “associates”.
We have gone over the edge. And there isn’t any coming back.
I watched the ceremony over the internet and some other videos on their website, it seems it’s gonna be a nice airplane to fly with. I just hope they make some comfortable seats for couch passengers…
Do you think you will ever get a chance to fly this plane? It looks awesome. Man testing for airplanes takes a long time!
Wow.. that plane sure makes me want to fly! You are LUCKY to be in the industry that you are and get to fly in something so gorgeous!
