Skybus Keeps on Soaring!
A few months ago, a new startup and extremely low fare carrier Skybus has launched service out of Columbus, Ohio. With only 5 Airbus A319s and serving 11 cities nationwide, this new low fare carrier seems to be doing quite well.
On all their flights, they have a 10 tickets for $10 plus taxes! That is a deal! Has anyone taken part in this deal yet? Was it worth it?
With this low fare carrier, you are paying for your own snacks and drinks in flight. Skybus doesn’t recommend doing connecting flights within their system through Columbus. It is possible to connect, but they give some points on their website about connecting:
- You must move your baggage between flights. If you create your own multi-point Trip, you must collect your own baggage at each stop and re-check it yourself – Skybus does not move your bags automatically.
- Leave enough time between flights. If you book a multi-point Trip, we recommend that you allow at least two hours between your flights. This will help ensure that you have enough time to retrieve and re-check your bags, and be at your gate in time. All of our check in and gate deadlines still apply if you purchase multiple flights.
Skybus is not done expanding just yet. They have just been approved to go international! They will begin service in October from Columbus to Cancun. A $10 air fare to Cancun?
Are you ready to fly Skybus or have you already flown Skybus? I haven’t heard much on the net with this new carrier, so let’s see what you have to say about this new low fare air carrier!

It is actually the first time I’m hearing about this airline… and 10 bucks tickets? Sweet!
Sounds pretty much like RyanAir in Europe - uber cheap flights that are really basic…
Skybus screwed us. They canceled our flight 1 hour before take off with no explanation. All they offered was a refund or a flight in two days! In the end we spent over $1000 getting home in time for work. Skybus was a very expensive mistake for us
Hey scavenge! sorry to hear it was a horrible travel! Is the airline basically you buy your seat only and have to pay for everything else including snacks, drinks, bags, pillows….etc?
