Fly With Me!!

After a China Airlines Boeing 737-800 landed this morning in Okinawa, Japan, all passengers escaped on emergency slides before the 737 turned into a fireball. All 165 people aboard escaped unhurt and the pilot who jumped from the flight deck at the last second.

Air traffic control received no indication from the flight deck after landing that there was a problem. After the airplane entered a parking spot, the left engine exploded! According to reports and news footage after the last crew member escaped from the rear of the aircraft and the pilot escaped from the flight deck, the whole airplane exploded! From the USA Today:

Several passengers told NHK they were preparing to get off the plane after what seemed like an ordinary landing when they were suddenly told to use the emergency slides to evacuate.

Some said they saw smoke and flames entering the cabin and that there was a stampede to exit. Minutes later, many said, they heard explosions.

“I suddenly saw flames beside me, and everybody started rushing to get out,” a male passenger told NHK. “People were pushing and shoving in panic,” he said.

“I felt the boom of the explosion behind me as soon as I got off,” a female passenger said.

This is an unbelievable and remarkable story that everyone got out of this disaster. Here is a video for the airplane on fire and the fire department putting out of the fire! Even if you can’t understand the news reporter, the video is spectacular. Can you believe this?!

I was watching the news this morning before leaving for work and I saw that. I’m glad no one got hurt! I haven’t read anything else about this, but what could have caused this explosion?

Amazing that everyone got out of that. A jump from the flight deck for the pilot is pretty impressive. Wonder how he fared injury wise.

All the bigger airplanes have an escape rope from the flight deck for the pilots to go down out of the window. Altho it isn’t one of the easiest ways to get down from the flight deck, but in an emergency it will do.

“I felt the boom of the explosion behind me as soon as I got off,” a female passenger said. She must be one who got off last in the video. Wow! This is really incredible John.
