Fly With Me!!

Aloha Airlines LogoToday is the last day of service for the one of the two major island carriers of Hawaii. Aloha is saying “Aloha” to Hawaii after today. The airlines are in some major issues as oil prices continue to soar and ticket fares get very competitive! Airlines cannot operate like they did before. Unfortunately, it was too much for Aloha and service had to end today. It breaks my heart to see a carrier of 60+ years close their doors to Hawaii.

The Honolulu Advertiser writes “the speed with which Aloha Airlines shut its passenger business has surprised many, but not those familiar with the airline’s bankruptcy case.” A bankruptcy attorney in the case told the Advertiser, “It was a business decision. They didn’t want to keep losing money, either.” The paper also said, “a tight credit market nationally added to Aloha’s woes, making it difficult to find new lenders willing to risk their money in a slowing economy and a bare-knuckles interisland fare ware.”

Aloha! to Aloha Airlines and all of the great people that made the airline wonderful! Also, good luck to all the employees during this difficult time! We are thinking about you!

It saddens me to see an airline that was founded on integrity and a geniune desire to serve its passengers fold becuase it can’t compete with huge corporate carriers. Sadly, I think this trend will continue.
