JP100s Info from Jetporter.com
The redesigned JP100S uses some of the latest innovations in battery motive technology. Separately excited motors and regenerative braking give the JP100S better throttle control, lower power requirements, longer run time between charges and ease of operation. The new features make the JP100S FIRST in it’s class!
DRIVE TRAIN
Two 10 hp separately excited, continuous duty, DC motors are coupled directly to independent drive hubs eliminating many drive train parts.”I have used all type of tugs, electric and conventional, but the JETporter with its reliability, safety, various ground power capabilities, outstanding customer service and attention to detail is the company I use for all my electric aircraft towing needs; it is a quality product I believe in.”
- Stephen Leidigh, General Manager, Landmark Aviation Solid rubber, 21 x 8 x 15, traction tires mount to the opposite side of the drive hubs. Digital logic controllers are used to control the drive train. Utilizing the latest DC motor technology, the controllers handle the signal inputs to maintain current limits, controlled acceleration and braking current.
Separately excited motors with independent controllers give the JP100S proportional drive steering providing a zero degree turning radius, reduced tire wear, increased traction and control on snow and ice.
A hydraulic rotary actuator connected to the steering axle and leaf spring suspension creates a very responsive power steering system. The system uses a set of 4.00 x 8” (16″ OD) industrial tires riding on roller bearings connected to the steering axle.
FRAME AND COMPONENTS
All JP100S components, including bearings, motors, gears and electrical equipment are heavy-duty industrial quality. The heavy gauge steel frame is formed and welded into a structural unit and is powder coated the trademark Tronair Blue (custom colors are optional). The deck covers are made of lightweight high strength aluminum alloy with a rubberized coating and a safety latch on each side. The lower profile allows the JP100S to fit under the body of most large cabin aircraft for tighter hangar stacking.
A DC motor and pump supply hydraulic pressure for the winch, cradle, power steering and emergency/parking brake systems. The JP100S utilizes a 10-micron filter because Tronair knows when it comes to hydraulic systems the better the filtration the longer the life of your equipment.
A hydraulic-ram winch system is designed to load both dual and single nose wheel aircraft onto the JP100S cradle. A mat safety switch, located in the back of the cradle, reduces tension to protect the aircraft nose gear.
UNIT POWER
Sixteen deep-cycle six-volt commercial batteries power the JP100S. Two banks of eight batteries connected in series and parallel to provide 48-volts. The second bank of batteries gives the JP100S a longer run time and more power, a feature our customers have come to expect. A fully automatic battery charger is supplied with each JP100S. The charger is available in a variety of either single or three phase voltages and either 50 or 60 hertz to meet your specific needs (indicate required frequency).
CONTROLS
The operator’s platform is designed to accommodate the operator and a passenger. The operation of the JP100S is designed around an automotive style “ease of operation” environment which includes an adjustable tilt steering and foot pedals to operate the throttle and service brake. Located on the control panel are the ignition, digital display, forward/reverse directional switch, cradle and winch control switches, emergency stop switch, forward and rear facing light switches. A second set of control switches for the cradle and winch are located on the front fender. The digital readout displays hours of operation and charge level of batteries.
BRAKING
The JP100S has three braking systems. The primary system is regenerative braking which changes the electrical fields converting the motor to a generator. By reducing foot pressure to the throttle the operator controls how much braking is applied. A foot pedal operates the service disk brake system. The emergency/parking brake system and is automatically set anytime the operator leaves the platform or if electrical or hydraulic power is removed.
