Who is American Eagle? The American Eagle network is the largest regional airline system in the world, with over 1,800 daily flights to more than 140 cities throughout the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Mexico.
American just released a news statement to everyone stating they are looking to divest their regional airline - American Eagle. What is going to be on the horizon for this new regional or even American? Is American in hurt of money and possibly might be going bankrupt? Investors are saying selling Eagle could help raise the stock price of American. I guess we will have to wait and see, but there is a lot of talk already on the internet from how people are perceiving this news statement.
Mark in DFW from USAtoday Article made this comment:
You know, its ashame that the company and union could not let the employees know about what was going on before we read about it online or through an Email after the fact..
All AMR is doing is dumping their assets so they can declare bankruptcy and tell the pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, and ramp people, all who are in contact talks, that the airline is broke and we can’t give you a raise. Oh and by the way, we are dumping the pension plan so we can compete with Delta , United, and Northwest, all who have just came out of bankruptcy and dumped their pensions and who have lower overhead costs now.
It’s just more of the same at AMR and they wonder why management / worker relations are so bad.
Now it’s your turn to talk! What are your thoughts on this news?

Who knew a simple ad for the iPhone could be causing so much trouble for passengers and some pilots. The ad deals with a pilot who checks the weather on his iPhone during a delay and 30 minutes later he is released by dispatch since the weather has cleared up. There is a lot of other factors that must go into getting released by air traffic control.
A tale that has been floating around the internet deals with a weather delay and a passenger looking up the destination weather on the iPhone and notifying the flight attendant. The pilot made an announcement to the passengers regarding this issue…
“If the passenger with the iPhone would be kind enough,” he began, “to use it to check the weather at our alternate airport, then calculate our revised fuel burn due to being rerouted, then call our dispatcher to arrange our amended release, then make a call to the nearest traffic control center to arrange a new slot time (among all the other aircraft carrying passengers with iPhones), we’ll then be more than happy to depart. Please ring your call button to advise the flight attendant and your fellow passengers when you deem it ready and responsible for this multimillion-dollar aircraft and its 84 passengers to safely leave.”
This is good for a few chuckles! Anyways, if you haven’t seen this iPhone ad, you can watch it now!

As the holiday season is upon us and Thanksgiving is already gone, the big question of the season is “Are you considering driving?”
The combination of record passenger loads, security headaches, and the prospect of disruptive winter weather should be enough to make someone think about alternate travel. George Bush even made a comment about this airline travel holiday season.
Unfortunately, this is also a season of dread for too many Americans. Holiday travelers faced with the prospect of long delayed and canceled flights and lost baggage, and other problems have become all too often an occurrence. In other words, there’s a lot of people that are worried about traveling because they’ve had unpleasant experiences when they’ve been flying around the country.
Now how will you be traveling this holiday season? Will you take to the air, the roads, or the rails?
