BatteryMINDer® 1510-OBD2 12V 1.5A Charger/Maintainer/Desulfator W/Smart Technology® W/OBD2 Connector
Features & Benefits:
• SAE to OBD2 Connector. Enables you to keep your battery maintained via your vehicle’s onboard OBD2C Connector.
• Installed ambient temperature sensor for 0°F–130°F operating range ensures the battery will never be overcharged or undercharged regardless of temperature extremes.
• Extends battery life up to four times when compared to new batteries not being properly charged-maintained over their lifetime.
• Maintains up to four batteries at a time (6 or 12 Volt batteries connected in parallel) Requires use of BatteryMINDer® Y-Connector 210AY (sold separately) or customer supplied 18-Gauge insulated wire.
• FCC Certified.
• Worldwide 90-240 VAC, 47-63 Hz Hz input.
• Recovers weak batteries.
• Automatic Full-Time high frequency (not high voltage) pulse type desulfation.
• Reverse polarity, short circuit and over temperature protection.
• Energy Star rated, which means it meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
• Certified by the California Energy Commission as meeting the current efficiency standards.
• Never connect two or more batteries together before fully charging each and checking their condition. Failure to fully charge each battery and check their condition can result in a serious safety hazard.
• Including but not limited to: Maintenance-free Flooded (filler cap) and sealed, Starter, Deep Cycle, Marine, and Hybrid. Not for use with aircraft batteries. For information about BatteryMINDers designed for use with aircraft batteries, see our Aviation Application page.
• Not for use with specialty sealed AGM batteries, except for Optima brand sealed AGM.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
No. The instruction manual clearly states that this unit is not for use with aviation batteries. This model is designed specifically for 12-volt automotive lead-acid batteries and should not be connected to aircraft electrical systems. Using it outside its intended application may result in equipment damage or safety hazards.
No. The manual explicitly warns that this unit is not intended for use with lithium-type batteries. If used with them, there is a potential for explosion. This charger is engineered for 12V lead-acid battery chemistries only, including flooded, AGM, and certain sealed designs. Always verify battery chemistry before connecting.
The charger requires a minimum battery voltage of 3.0 volts to begin operation. If the battery voltage falls below that threshold, the unit will not activate. This safeguard prevents unsafe attempts to charge severely damaged or internally shorted batteries.
When the battery voltage is below 10.5 volts, the charger enters SoftStart mode and attempts to recover. If successful, it automatically transitions to full Constant Current charging. If recovery fails due to internal faults, the unit shuts down and signals a problem.
The charger moves to maintenance after reaching 14.4 volts in absorption mode and maintains at 13.4 volts during float (measured at 77°F/25°C). These voltage levels help ensure a full charge while minimizing the risk of overcharging. Temperature compensation further adjusts output as ambient conditions change.
BatteryMINDer’s LED indicator table outlines specific color patterns that identify charging, desulfation, fault, or maintenance status. For example, a flashing green light indicates active charging, while a solid green light confirms maintenance mode. Fault conditions such as reversed polarity or shorted clips are also clearly signaled.
Batteries should be charged individually unless they are identical in type and condition. When connecting multiple batteries, they must be wired correctly (parallel for the same voltage, series when combining lower-voltage batteries). Mixing batteries of different states of charge can cause rapid energy transfer and potential failure.
The unit includes short-circuit, spark, and reverse-polarity protection to prevent output unless properly connected. It also features temperature protection that shuts down the unit if the operating temperature exceeds its limits. These safeguards help reduce the risk of fire and electrical shock.
The charger operates between 14°F to 104°F (-10°C and 40°C). Storage temperatures can range from -13°F to 185°F (-25°C to 85°C). Staying within the recommended operating range ensures optimal charging performance and component longevity.
The BatteryMINDer® Plus 1510 carries a ten-year limited warranty. Registration within 10 days is recommended to receive updates and support.
