Robomule 5000 Mobile Hydraulic Power Unit
Previously a product of Dehaut Aero, the Robomule 5000 Mobile HPU is now manufactured by Pilot John International, a Carolina GSE company.
The Robomule 5000 (RM-5000-02) is a continuous-duty motor that connects directly to the aircraft's hydraulic pump, powering it to pump the hydraulic fluid without having to disconnect the hydraulic lines. This keeps the fluid from being contaminated, eliminates the risk of air entering the hydraulic system, and prohibits the aircraft's hydraulic system from overpressurizing. This custom-manufactured, low-profile motor produces 3,000 RPM at 3.5 HP on 28V DC power.
Benefits
- Utilizes the aircraft's pump, filters, pressure regulator, and fluid
- Prevents fluid contamination, loss, or leakage
- Keeps air from entering the aircraft's hydraulic system
- Prevents overpressurization of the hydraulic system
- Unit is easy to install and use
Features
- Reversible rotation by switching the motor leads
- Heavy-duty ball-bearing casters for easy transportation
- Heavy-duty square steel post for easy vertical adjustment and removal from base for storage (can be adapted to engine work stands for larger aircraft)
- Wide 36" diameter base for added stability
- Contactor box under the motor allows for easy pump installation
- Hydraulic damper for easy, smooth, safe adjustment
- Safety remote control with momentary “ON” switch and 50' cord
- “T” handle friction locks for easy horizontal and vertical adjustment
- Friction lock for vertical post adjustment
- 15' external power cord with an AN-type connector powers the aircraft while the unit is in use

Robomule 5000 Operating Instructions
- This unit is only intended for use by properly licensed AO mechanics.
- Always ensure proper DC availability – the unit requires a minimum of 150 amps at 28V DC. The line cord from assembly to aircraft external power is limited to 50 amps continuous max, with 75 amps for 3 minutes.
- When using the hydraulic power stand, always turn off avionics and engine computers to prevent damage from electrical spikes caused by the on/off of the motor and relays on the hydraulic power stand. This is especially important if the aircraft is in maintenance without the batteries installed. If installed, be sure that the batteries are tied to the external power buss, as this will absorb most electrical spikes.
- Always check the motor remote control switch for proper operation before attaching the power stand to the aircraft. The remote is spring-loaded to the “OFF” position. Actuating the motor remote control switch should not run until you arm the switch atop the motor relay box assembly. The motor should run off and on by actuating the switch with the remote switch held on.
- Always check for proper directional rotation on the aircraft pump to match the hydraulic power stand rotation.
- Using the continuous-duty motor assembly for over a 10-minute period will increase wear appreciably. To ensure long life, limit continuous-duty operation whenever possible.
- Always check to make sure personnel are clear of the aircraft (including the landing gear, flaps, and thrust reversers) before using the power stand.
- When installing a pump on a hydraulic motor drive pad, always be sure not to kink, pull, or twist hydraulic lines so as not to avoid causing damage. This can be done by adjusting the stand assembly after the aircraft has been jacked.
- Always make sure the safety pin on the post and friction lock “T” handles are locked on the motor tilt pad and post.
- Always remove the hydraulic power stand before lowering the aircraft.
