The Pacific Scientific T5-2002-105-00 is the highest-range model in the T5-2002 sub-series — the instrument maintenance programs turn to when primary flight control cable tensions push beyond the 300 lb ceiling of every other T5-2002 model. With a mid and high range of 30–400 lbs on cable sizes from 5/32" through 1/4", and a low range of 30–200 lbs on 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" cables, the T5-2002-105-00 delivers the broadest tension ceiling in the sub-series while maintaining full compatibility with all seven standard aircraft cable diameters from 1/16" to 1/4". Carrying the U.S.A.F. C5 designation and calibration card T594-105, it is qualified for military aviation maintenance programs and carries the same factory-calibrated, zero-temperature-error precision that defines the entire T5-2000 platform.

When 300 lbs Isn't Enough

Most T5-2002 models top out at 300 lbs — sufficient for the majority of general aviation and turboprop primary control cable systems. But some aircraft, particularly larger turboprops, light business jets, rotary-wing platforms, and certain military airframes, specify primary control cable tensions at or above 300 lbs on 3/16" to 1/4" cables. The T5-2002-105-00 is the model built for exactly that scenario. Its 30–400 lb range on the mid and high cable size groups extends 100 lbs beyond any other T5-2002 instrument, giving maintenance professionals the coverage they need without requiring a completely different tensiometer platform or sacrificing coverage of the smaller cable sizes on the same airframe. Each unit ships factory-calibrated with its own individual calibration chart (T594-105) that maps dial readings to actual tension in pounds for all three ranges and all seven cable sizes — a direct lookup with no secondary calculations required. Zero temperature error means the instrument performs identically in a cold maintenance hangar or on a hot flight line, with no preliminary adjustments between sessions.

Pacific Scientific T5-2002-105-00 Calibration

The T5-2002-105-00 should be recalibrated on a scheduled basis — annually at minimum, and immediately following any overload event, mechanical shock, or drop. Because this instrument operates at the highest tension range in the T5-2002 sub-series and is used on primary flight control cables where accuracy has direct airworthiness implications, maintaining calibration currency is non-negotiable. Pilot John International operates an ISO 17025-accredited calibration laboratory capable of recalibrating Pacific Scientific T5 series tensiometers to original manufacturer specifications, issuing a fully traceable calibration certificate upon completion. Whether your maintenance program operates under FAA oversight, a DOD contract, or an ISO 9001 quality management system, PJi's lab delivers the traceability and documentation your compliance requirements demand. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What makes the T5-2002-105-00 different from the other T5-2002 models?
Answer:

The T5-2002-105-00 has the highest tension range in the T5-2002 sub-series — 30–400 lbs on 5/32" through 1/4" cables. Every other T5-2002 model tops out at 300 lbs or less on those cable sizes. It is the only T5-2002 model that extends to 400 lbs while still covering all seven standard cable diameters from 1/16" to 1/4".

Question:
What is Riser #3A and when should it be used on the T5-2002-105-00?
Answer:

Riser #3A is an alternate riser that may be used in lieu of Riser #3 on the T5-2002-105-00 and T5-8002-105-00 models. It is useful in applications involving coated cables or situations where the standard Riser #3 geometry creates a clearance or seating issue. Always consult the calibration chart to confirm riser selection for your specific cable size and application.

Question:
What aircraft types is the T5-2002-105-00 typically used on?
Answer:

It is best suited for larger turboprops, light business jets, rotary-wing platforms, and military aircraft where primary control cable tensions are specified above 300 lbs on 3/16" to 1/4" cables. For aircraft with primary tensions below 300 lbs, the T5-2002-104-00 or T5-2002-104A-00 may be more appropriate.

Question:
How often should the T5-2002-105-00 be recalibrated, and can PJi perform that service?
Answer:

Annual recalibration is the standard interval, or sooner following any overload event, mechanical shock, or drop. Pilot John International's ISO 17025-accredited calibration laboratory performs recalibration of Pacific Scientific T5 series tensiometers to original manufacturer specifications, issuing a fully traceable calibration certificate. Whether your program operates under FAA oversight, a DOD contract, or an ISO 9001 quality management system, PJi's lab provides the documentation your compliance requirements demand.
