Question:
Does the AVX-10K have a software option for TIS, or is the TIS already in the AVX-10K-STCAS?
Answer:
The TIS function is part of the TCAS function on the AVX-10K and is considered Target Generation.
TCAS is an optional function on all versions of the AVX-10K. (AVX-10k- STCAS).
Additional information: TIS- Traffic Information Service. This allows pilots to see aircraft that are NOT emitting ADS-B data but have a basic transponder. As an aircraft is discovered by primary radar and responds with encoded altitude information, this info is broadcast over ADS-B.
