The CDI 300T-I is an X-shank (0.735") preset interchangeable-head torque wrench covering 100–300 ft-lb (135.6–406.7 Nm) — the second-largest preset in the CDI T-I family and the one built for repetitive heavy-fastener work in turboprop and heavy piston aviation maintenance. At 27.75 inches long and 3.90 lb, the 27-inch handle provides the mechanical leverage to apply 250–300 ft-lb in a controlled single-click motion across a production run or overhaul batch.

The X-shank: the third interchangeable head format in the T-I family

The smaller T-I presets use J-shank (5T-I through 50T-I) and the 100T-I uses Y-shank. The 300T-I uses the X-shank — 0.735-inch nominal, CDI's interchangeable head format for the 100–300 ft-lb range. X-shank heads in open-end, box-end, and flare-nut configurations cover the fastener hex sizes found on propeller retention hardware, engine mount fasteners, landing gear structural attach, and heavy structural assembly fasteners at this torque level. X-shank heads are not compatible with J-shank or Y-shank formats — when ordering accessory heads for the 300T-I, specify X-shank dimension.

The 100T-I covers 20–150 ft-lb on a Y-shank at 19 inches and 2.50 lb. The 300T-I covers 100–300 ft-lb on an X-shank at 27.75 inches and 3.90 lb. The 100–150 ft-lb overlap means both could technically handle hardware in that band, but the 300T-I's accurate working band (20% of full scale = 60 ft-lb effective floor) is better calibrated for hardware above 100 ft-lb. Choose the 100T-I for fleet wheel service, cowling hardware, and landing gear work on light aircraft. Choose the 300T-I for turboprop prop retention overhaul, engine mount hardware on heavier platforms, and heavy structural attach hardware where the preset value regularly exceeds 150 ft-lb.
