JSI engineers worked specifically with USAF maintenance personnel in various locations to develop and design a customized set of fall protection stands for the F-22. Every aspect of the platform, including the stand’s modular nature and ability to interact with other stands in the set, allows users to gain work efficiency by bringing electricity, compressed air, and storage space to the platform. Verified not only through Finite Element Analysis but also proof load testing that each design is properly rated.

Maneuverability and Storage

Each modular platform has ample room for storing various pneumatic and power tools and aircraft parts. This customized Phase Maintenance Stand, designed specifically for the F-22 aircraft with 5052 and 6061 aluminum construction, is easily maneuvered by one to two personnel due to its light weight and polyurethane-coated casters. The tough iron core of the casters and the unique design of the stand allow it to be fully transported by truck and easily set up in minutes by two personnel.

Fall Protection and OSHA Compliance

The guardrails are removable and interchangeable, providing fall protection and OSHA-compliant safety. All the walking surfaces are equipped with antislip surfaces to help minimize any slips or falls. The individually operated extension sliders equipped with rubber padding allow the user to custom-fit each stand to the aircraft. Each extension slider is lockable without tooling and can be put into position in seconds. The F-22 Phase Maintenance Stand is one of the sturdiest designs on the market.
