The Lektro APM403EB is a replacement strut strap for Lektro aircraft tugs and tow tractors. Strut straps are used to secure the aircraft's landing gear strut to the tug for easy towing.
This sturdy webbing strap measures 2" wide x 29" long and comes with a protective sleeve that helps prevent damage to the aircraft's oleo strut.
NOTE: Lektro strongly recommends replacing strut straps – as well as winch strap/winch hook assemblies – whenever excessive wear is identified, or every three months, whichever comes first.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The APM403EB Replacement Strut Strap is designed to securely cradle the nose gear strut during aircraft towing with compatible Lektro electric towbarless tugs. It helps maintain proper alignment and minimizes stress on the nose landing gear. This strap plays a critical role in stabilizing the aircraft connection point and preventing damage to sensitive structural components. Using the correct replacement strap ensures that safety and towing performance remain consistent with OEM standards.
The APM403EB strut strap is compatible with select Lektro AP series towbarless tugs, particularly models designed for towing light to midsize aircraft with forward nose gear configurations. It is most often used with the APM-403 series tugs, although exact compatibility can vary depending on aircraft type and ground equipment setup. Always consult the Lektro operator manual or contact your ground support equipment supplier to confirm fitment. Using the correct strap ensures secure towing and protects against equipment or aircraft damage.
Over time, the APM403EB strut strap may show signs of wear such as fraying, loss of tension, surface cracking, or weakened stitching. Regular inspection is recommended, especially if the strap is used frequently or exposed to harsh weather conditions. If there’s any visible deterioration or if the strap no longer maintains secure tension on the nose gear, it should be replaced immediately. Continued use of a compromised strap can pose a serious risk to both the tug and the aircraft.
The APM403EB is specifically engineered for use with select Lektro APM-403 series towbarless tugs and is not considered a universal part. While it may appear visually similar to other straps, using it outside of its intended model could result in poor fitment or towing instability. To avoid damage or operational risk, always verify that the strap is compatible with both the tug and the aircraft being serviced. PJi offers expert assistance to help confirm the right fit for your fleet.
The APM403EB is made from heavy-duty, aircraft-grade webbing designed to withstand the tension and mechanical stresses involved in aircraft towing operations. Its reinforced construction resists abrasion and weather-related deterioration, ensuring consistent performance in demanding ramp environments. The material is chosen for its combination of flexibility and strength, helping secure the aircraft's nose gear without causing damage. This construction also makes it resistant to moisture, oils, and other common ramp contaminants.
Yes, the APM403EB replacement strap is designed for straightforward installation and removal, allowing ground crews to perform maintenance or replacement directly on the ramp. Installation typically involves releasing the old strap from its mounting hardware and securing the new one in place using existing attachment points. No specialized tools are required, making it a convenient part to replace during scheduled inspections or when wear is observed. Always refer to Lektro’s user manual for detailed instructions and torque specifications if applicable.
To extend the service life of your APM403EB strap, store it in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and chemicals. Avoid folding or twisting the strap tightly, as this can stress the fibers and compromise durability. If the strap has been exposed to moisture or contaminants, allow it to dry thoroughly and wipe it clean before storage. Proper care and storage can help maintain the integrity of the strap and reduce replacement frequency.
The Lektro APM403EB Replacement Strut Strap is rated to support aircraft towing operations with a maximum capacity of up to 333,300 lbs (151,182 kg) under dry conditions on a level surface (0% grade). When operating on a 2% incline, the maximum towing capacity is reduced to 166,650 lbs (75,591 kg), also under dry conditions.
These ratings reflect optimal performance when used with compatible Lektro towbarless tugs and properly maintained hardware. Always follow OEM guidelines and regularly inspect the strap for wear to ensure safe aircraft handling during ground support operations.
