Sesame Technologies S036025 – Engine Exhaust Shield Gulfstream GIV, G450 (Rolls-Royce TAY 611-8C)

The Sesame Technologies S036025 is a Diamond Engine Shield EX designed to protect the exhaust section of the Rolls-Royce TAY 611-8C engine on the Gulfstream GIV-X (G450). Part of Sesame's Executive Series GSE line, this exhaust shield prevents foreign object damage, moisture intrusion, and environmental contamination from entering the engine through the exhaust nozzle during ground storage, overnight stays, and maintenance downtime.

The shield is constructed from a combination of carbon fiber, high-temperature silicones, 316L stainless steel hardware, and a durable synthetic outer layer. This material stack provides resistance to wind loading, rain and snow accumulation, UV degradation, and the residual heat environment around jet engine exhaust areas. The construction has been validated through destructive wind, water, and impact testing to confirm performance under real-world ramp and field conditions.

A key advantage of the Diamond Engine Shield EX platform is its ground-level installation capability. The S036025 is designed to be safely installed and removed by a single crew member using the IPEX-54-140 telescoping installation pole (sold separately), eliminating the need for ladders, maintenance stands, or multi-person crews to access the aft-mounted engines on the G450. This reduces fall risk for flight crews and line technicians while significantly speeding up the install and removal process during quick turns and overnight operations.

The Gulfstream GIV-X (G450) is powered by two Rolls-Royce TAY 611-8C turbofan engines mounted on the aft fuselage. The aft engine position and exhaust geometry make these engines particularly susceptible to moisture ingestion, nesting insects, and debris accumulation when the aircraft is parked. The S036025 provides a secure, repeatable barrier at the exhaust outlet to keep the engine core and turbine section clean between flights.
