The TRQ95901 and TRQ95902 are the same set in every respect except one: the 1/2 inch drive wrench. The TRQ95901 includes the TRQ52402 (40–200 ft-lb). The TRQ95902 includes the TRQ52403 (40–300 ft-lb). The question that decides which set is correct for your shop is straightforward: does your maintenance scope include any torque specification above 200 ft-lb?

If it does — turboprop engine primary mount hardware, heavy landing gear trunnion and drag brace fasteners, propeller hub retention on high-power installations, or any structural fastener the AMM specifies between 201 and 300 ft-lb — the TRQ95901 is an incomplete program. A wrench operated above its rated maximum is not applying certified torque. The TRQ95902 closes that gap with the TRQ52403 as the 1/2 inch instrument, extending the set's coverage to 300 ft-lb with full ISO 6789 calibration and a serialized certificate at every point in that range.

Every wrench in the set is ISO 6789-calibrated to ±3% clockwise and counterclockwise, each in its own individual HDPE case with its own serialized certificate of calibration. Pilot John International's ISO 17025-accredited calibration laboratory recertifies all three wrenches — including the TRQ52403's full 300 ft-lb range — at a single scheduled service event, issuing three NIST-traceable certificates on the same date. One service event. One expiry date. No ceiling gaps in the program.

Shared Specifications — All Three Wrenches

TRQ95902 vs. TRQ95901

The TRQ95901 is the correct set for shops whose heaviest 1/2 inch drive work stays at or below 200 ft-lb — light piston aircraft line maintenance, FBO service work on singles and light twins, and MRO work where no AMM fastener specification exceeds that ceiling. The TRQ95902 is the correct set for any shop whose maintenance scope includes even a single application above 200 ft-lb. A turboprop primary mount bolt. A heavy landing gear trunnion fastener. A propeller hub retention nut on a high-power installation. If that fastener exists in your AMM library, the TRQ52403 is the correct 1/2 inch instrument and the TRQ95902 is the correct set. For shops whose scope is genuinely mixed, the TRQ95903 4-piece set includes both 1/2 inch wrenches — the TRQ52402 and TRQ52403 — alongside the 1/4 and 3/8 inch instruments.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What is the difference between the TRQ95902 and the TRQ95901 — they look identical?
Answer:

The two sets are identical except for the 1/2 inch drive wrench included. The TRQ95901 contains the TRQ52402 with a 40–200 ft-lb ceiling. The TRQ95902 contains the TRQ52403 with a 40–300 ft-lb ceiling. The 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch wrenches are the same in both sets. The $25 premium on the TRQ95902 purchases 100 additional ft-lb of certified 1/2 inch drive coverage — the range that covers turboprop primary mount hardware, heavy landing gear trunnion fasteners, and propeller hub retention on high-power installations that fall between 201 and 300 ft-lb. If your maintenance scope includes any fastener in that range, the TRQ95902 is the complete program. The TRQ95901 is not.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
Why does it matter whether the 1/2 inch wrench in the set tops out at 200 or 300 ft-lb — can I just use it above its rated range if I need to?
Answer:

No, and this is a critical tool control point. A micrometer torque wrench is ISO 6789-calibrated and certified across its stated range. The serialized certificate documents accuracy at specific test points within that range. Using the wrench above its rated maximum — for example, using a TRQ52402 on a 250 ft-lb specification — means operating the instrument beyond its calibrated range, outside the conditions under which its certificate was issued, and without accuracy assurance at the applied value. A maintenance logbook entry recording that a 250 ft-lb torque was applied with a wrench whose certificate only covers to 200 ft-lb cannot be defended as certified torque application. For any fastener specification above 200 ft-lb, the TRQ52403 is the correct instrument and the TRQ95902 is the correct set.
