QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Tronair 02C1036C0111 10-ton tripod jack is commonly used for heavy aircraft maintenance tasks, including landing gear servicing, wheel and brake replacement, tire changes, and structural inspections. Its 20,000-lb lifting capacity makes it well-suited for larger business jets, regional aircraft, and military aircraft platforms. Maintenance crews often use high-capacity aircraft tripod jacks when stable lifting support is required during extended inspections or repairs. The jack is specifically OEM-approved for multiple Bombardier, Dassault, Airbus Military, and BAe aircraft models.
The single-stage hydraulic system provides smooth, controlled lifting performance while reducing mechanical complexity. Fewer moving stages can simplify maintenance and contribute to long-term hydraulic reliability in demanding aviation environments. Controlled extension also allows technicians to position the aircraft more accurately during jacking procedures. This design is especially useful when performing maintenance that requires precise aircraft leveling.
OEM approval indicates that the aircraft jack has been evaluated for compatibility with specific aircraft platforms and approved for use in accordance with the manufacturer's standards. Using an OEM-approved aircraft tripod jack can help maintenance facilities meet operational and regulatory requirements during servicing procedures. It also helps ensure the jack’s lifting capacity, height range, and structural configuration are appropriate for the aircraft being serviced. The 02C1036C0111 is approved for aircraft, including the Challenger 300, Challenger 604, Falcon 50, CN-235, and Jetstream 41.
The ram locknut acts as a mechanical safety support that helps prevent unintended lowering while the aircraft is elevated. Once the aircraft reaches the required height, technicians can lower the locknut into position to support the load independently from hydraulic pressure. This added protection is especially valuable during extended maintenance procedures where personnel may be working near or beneath the aircraft. Tronair emphasizes proper locknut engagement throughout the operation and service manual.
The mechanical extension allows technicians to rapidly position the jack close to the aircraft jacking point before hydraulic lifting begins. This reduces the amount of pumping required and helps speed up aircraft setup procedures. Faster positioning can improve workflow efficiency in busy maintenance hangars and reduce technician fatigue during repetitive operations. The manual lists a 14” mechanical extension combined with over 20" of hydraulic extension for a maximum height of 70.25".
The aircraft jack is designed to operate from -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C), making it suitable for a wide range of hangar and ramp conditions. Its durable powder-coat finish helps protect against corrosion, exposure to hydraulic fluid, and general wear in maintenance environments. The heavy-duty tripod structure also supports stability when lifting larger aircraft. Combined, these features help maintenance facilities achieve dependable long-term performance.
Correct locking pin placement helps secure the mechanical extension and maintain safe lifting operations. The Tronair manual specifically warns against improper pin positioning because it can damage the ram protection ring and compromise jack safety. Proper installation of the locking pin, washer, and ball lock helps maintain structural integrity during lifting procedures. The manual also recommends annual load testing and regular inspection of locking components.
The built-in pressure relief valve helps protect the hydraulic system from overload conditions during aircraft lifting. Excessive hydraulic pressure can place unnecessary stress on both the jack and the aircraft structure. By automatically regulating pressure, the valve contributes to safer and more controlled lifting performance. Overload protection can also help extend the service life of hydraulic components.
Routine inspection, proper hydraulic fluid maintenance, and annual load testing are important for maximizing jack performance and longevity. Tronair recommends checking hydraulic fluid levels before each use and lubricating casters every three months. The manual also advises storing the jack with the ram fully lowered and protecting exposed surfaces during low-usage periods. Following manufacturer-recommended maintenance procedures helps reduce wear and maintain safe operation.
The Tronair 02C1036C0111 includes spring-loaded casters that help technicians move the jack efficiently between aircraft and maintenance bays. The jack can also be transported using a crane or forklift when needed. Its compact, closed height simplifies storage when the equipment is not in use. Proper storage practices, including keeping the ram fully lowered and protected from environmental exposure, can help preserve long-term reliability.
