QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Tronair KHC-1011 Quick-Disconnect Hydraulic Coupling Kit provides a secure, leak-resistant connection between ground hydraulic servicing equipment and aircraft hydraulic systems. It enables technicians to connect or disconnect fluid lines quickly without incurring fluid loss or contamination, thereby reducing maintenance time and enhancing safety during aircraft servicing. The kit is specifically designed for use with phosphate ester–based hydraulic fluids commonly used in modern aircraft systems.
The KHC-1011 kit includes multiple tube expanders, quick-disconnect couplings, and rubber dust plugs to ensure a complete and sealed connection assembly. Each coupling and plug is color-coded for easy identification and proper pairing in maintenance operations. These components are designed for repeatable use and durable performance in demanding ground support environments.
No. The KHC-1011 couplings are specifically designed for use with phosphate ester hydraulic fluids, such as Skydrol and HyJet. Using the kit with incompatible fluids, including mineral-based hydraulic oils, could damage seals and compromise performance. Always verify the type of fluid system before connecting the couplings to ensure compatibility and avoid contamination.
Modifying the KHC-1011 kit is strictly prohibited without written approval from Tronair. Unauthorized modifications void the product warranty and may lead to unsafe operating conditions or fluid leaks. Tronair requires that only OEM replacement parts be used to maintain compliance with performance and safety standards.
The rubber dust plugs provided in the KHC-1011 kit protect both male and female quick-disconnect fittings from contamination by dirt, moisture, or debris when not connected. These plugs preserve the integrity of the coupling seals and prevent premature wear or fluid leaks. Keeping the plugs installed whenever the couplings are disconnected is a best practice for long-term reliability.
Regular inspection is key to maintaining optimal performance. Technicians should inspect couplings and O-rings for signs of wear, corrosion, or fluid residue before and after use. Cleaning with a lint-free cloth and replacing damaged parts immediately helps prevent system contamination and ensures leak-free operation during hydraulic servicing.
The KHC-1011’s quick-disconnect design allows technicians to establish or release hydraulic connections in seconds without fluid loss or system depressurization. This minimizes downtime during line maintenance, troubleshooting, or fluid exchanges. Its color-coded couplings also help prevent cross-connection errors between supply and return lines, improving operational safety and workflow speed.
Tronair provides a one-year warranty from the shipment date covering defects in materials or workmanship. Replacement components carry a 90-day warranty from the date of shipment. Warranty claims require prior authorization and the issuance of a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number before products can be returned for service or evaluation.
Before connecting or disconnecting hydraulic lines, technicians should ensure the system is fully depressurized to prevent injury or fluid spray. All fittings must be securely locked before applying pressure, and only authorized personnel should handle the connections. Using non-approved components or ignoring pressure ratings could result in leaks, damage, or operator injury.
To maintain the integrity of the couplings, the KHC-1011 kit should be stored in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and chemical exposure. The included dust plugs should be installed on both coupling ends to prevent contamination. Storing the components in a dedicated carrying case or toolbox helps keep them organized and ready for immediate use during aircraft maintenance operations.
Using OEM Tronair replacement parts ensures that the KHC-1011 maintains its performance specifications, fluid compatibility, and safety certification. Non-genuine parts may not meet Tronair’s pressure and material standards, potentially leading to leaks or failure under load. OEM parts also preserve warranty coverage and guarantee a proper fit with other Tronair hydraulic systems.
