Marsh Brothers Aviation M1001 - Baron MLG Door Hinge Kit
Reduce Maintenance Downtime and Costs by Eliminating the Need to Grease with the Baron MLG Door Hinge Kit.
An essential part of your aircraft maintenance checklist is the periodic lubrication of hard-to-access door hinge bushings. Proper lubrication is challenging because access is difficult. If these bushings are not lubricated regularly, corrosion will result, which could damage the aircraft structure. Marsh Brothers’ AeroTough® grease-free, nonmetallic bushings eliminate any chance of corrosion and reduce wear rates compared to traditional metal bushings. AeroTough® GF is self-lubricating, so these bushings will never require lubrication.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
No. One kit includes all the components needed for both the left and right main landing gear doors of the aircraft.
Accessing the main landing gear doors can be difficult. The M1002 installation kit is not essential, but it is highly recommended, as it makes installing the main landing gear hinge kits much easier.
The installation kit includes:
- 0.251" reamer – for resizing the inside diameter of the bushings in case they are tight
- Press-out and press-in jack – used to push out the OEM bushings and press in the new polymer housings
- Push pin – serves as an adapter for the screw jack
- "Stick-it" – for holding washers in place during installation
- Temporary distance piece – to keep the housing flanges from bending
The door hinge bushings in this kit are designed to fit in exactly the same space as the OEM parts. The key difference is that these bushings are made of self-lubricating polymer instead of steel. If the OEM steel components corrode and seize, the result is costly repairs to the wing's supporting structure.
This kit addresses the issue of corrosion and seizing in traditional metal hinge bushings, which are difficult to lubricate due to their location. Over time, this can lead to binding, structural damage, or even door misalignment. The Marsh Brothers solution eliminates these risks with grease-free, self-lubricating AeroTough® GF bushings, reducing long-term wear and preventing costly repairs.
Because the hinge bushings are hard to access, they’re often neglected during routine maintenance. Without regular lubrication, metal bushings can corrode and seize, potentially causing the bushing to rotate in its housing and damage the hinge bracket. This can lead to complex and expensive structural repairs.
AeroTough® GF is a proprietary polymer developed by Marsh Brothers Aviation. It is self-lubricating, corrosion-resistant, and engineered specifically for aviation applications. It eliminates the need for grease and holds up in extreme conditions without degrading like metal or rubber components.
By replacing traditional bushings with self-lubricating AeroTough® GF bushings, the kit removes the primary cause of long-term wear and failure – corrosion and lack of lubrication. Installing the kit before problems arise helps avoid damage to hinge brackets and prevents expensive downtime.
The Baron MLG Door Hinge Bushing Kit is FAA-approved under STC No. SA03342NY and Transport Canada-approved under STC No. SA13-40. It is suitable for installation on U.S. and Canadian registered Beech Baron aircraft.
The kit includes AeroTough® GF bushings, stainless steel sleeves, bolts, nuts, washers, spacers, and all required hardware to reinstall both main gear doors. It’s a complete solution designed to streamline replacement and ensure long-lasting performance.
While the hinge area is somewhat hard to access, installation is straightforward with the right tools. You’ll need to remove the doors, press out the OEM bushings, and press in the new ones. The optional installation kit is highly recommended to simplify the process.
If corrosion has previously affected the airframe, the bushing housing may be distorted or undersized. Reaming ensures the proper internal diameter for the new bushings, promoting correct fitment and smooth gear door operation.
It’s not a problem. Although lubrication isn’t required, AeroTough® GF bushings are fully compatible with oil and grease. If applied by mistake, it won’t harm the bushing or interfere with performance.
The kit prevents damage to the hinge bracket and housing, which would otherwise require invasive and expensive repair, by eliminating metal-on-metal contact and the risk of seizing. It also protects the structural integrity of your landing gear system.
Traditional metal bushings require routine lubrication and are vulnerable to corrosion. The Marsh Brothers kit eliminates lubrication needs and the associated labor, reduces wear rates, and offers a permanent solution that outlasts metal alternatives.
Waiting until you see signs of failure – such as binding, door misalignment, or corrosion – means damage may already be done. Installing the kit early prevents problems before they become costly, making it a smart long-term investment in your aircraft’s health.
