Start Pac 3328QC-105 (105 amps) 28V Power Supply & Battery Pack

The Start Pac 3328QC-105 amp GPU is a combination power supply and battery bank.

This 3328QC-105 combination ground power unit is designed for ground use and can be used on the ramp to conduct engine starting and will provide 28.5V of continuous clean no duty cycle power when plugged into 220V AC wall power. The 3328QC-105 is a full 28.5 Volt unit that will give faster, cooler engine starts on all turbine engines. The 105 Amp power supply is large enough to power various systems such as inverters, avionics and GPS.

Always recharge after use until the green charger light appears. Once charged, leave the unit plugged in. Avoid fully discharging the batteries as damage to the cells may result. To recharge the unit, simply plug it into an AC wall power outlet and leave it plugged in when not in use. The high tech proprietary chargers will maintain 100% battery charge without over charging the batteries.

Limitation

When using more than 105 continuous amps, the batteries will make up the difference until they become depleted. On most aircraft, a low voltage relay will drop below a preset level. Once the GPU is dropped off, its voltage will rise and will be accepted again by the aircraft, then will immediately drop off again. This oscillation can cause damage to aircraft components.

Battery Disconnect

When operating the continuous power supply at 105 amps and below, activate the battery disconnect. Since the 28.5 batteries actually read 30.5 Volts at rest, leaving the battery disconnect connected will deplete the batteries nearly 50% before their voltage reaches 28.5 Volts. Thus in this situation only one half of the battery capacity will be available for engine starting. By keeping the batteries separated from the continuous power supply, you will have full battery capacity for engine starts. If you need more than 105 continuous amps, then use the battery disconnect and the batteries will make up any amperage needed.
