- Ram Lock Nut: Prevents the lowering of the ram. The ram lock nut must be lowered as the aircraft is being lifted. Ram lock nuts must be kept within 2" of the stop while raising the aircraft.
- Hold-to-Run Air Valve: Requires the operator to hold the air valve lever to raise the ram using the air pump. Releasing the air valve lever stops the upward movement of the ram.
- Lock Nut Retention Ring: Prevents the lock nut from being unscrewed from the second stage.
- Pressure Relief Valve: Prevents overload during raising operations.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Aircraft hydraulic tripod jacks are commonly used during structural inspections, landing gear servicing, control rigging, and scheduled heavy maintenance events. They allow technicians to safely lift and stabilize the aircraft while performing work that cannot be completed with the aircraft on its wheels. This jack is particularly important when precise leveling and controlled lifting are required. Using the correct jack helps reduce risk to both personnel and the aircraft.
A single-stage hydraulic tripod jack utilizes a single hydraulic ram to raise and lower the load, offering simplicity, durability, and predictable lifting behavior. This design reduces internal complexity, which can improve reliability and ease of maintenance. Single-stage jacks are often preferred for fuselage lifting where controlled height adjustment is more important than rapid extension. The Tronair 02-7802C0111 is engineered for stable, high-capacity lifting without unnecessary mechanical complexity.
This aircraft tripod jack incorporates several critical safety features designed to protect both technicians and equipment. A mechanical ram locknut physically supports the load once the aircraft is raised, preventing unintended lowering. An internal pressure relief valve protects against overload conditions during lifting. Clearly labeled operating instructions and safety warnings further support safe use during aircraft maintenance operations.
The ram locknut is a primary safety device that mechanically supports the aircraft load once the jack is under pressure. Hydraulic pressure alone should never be relied on to hold an aircraft in a raised position. Proper use of the locknut significantly reduces the risk of sudden load loss due to hydraulic failure. Industry-standard jacking procedures require engaging the locknut anytime the aircraft is lifted.
Yes, this tripod jack is designed for use in conjunction with other compatible aircraft jacks during multi-point lifting operations. Aircraft fuselage or wing jacking typically requires multiple jacks to be raised and lowered simultaneously to maintain proper balance. Coordination between jacks is critical to prevent airframe stress. Always follow the aircraft manufacturer’s approved jacking procedures.
Before each use, technicians should visually inspect the jack for leaks, damaged components, and loose hardware. Hydraulic fluid levels should be checked with the ram fully lowered and replenished if necessary. The ram, locknut, and casters should move freely without binding. Pre-use inspections help identify issues before they become safety hazards.
The Tronair 02-7802C0111 utilizes aviation-approved hydraulic fluid that meets MIL-PRF-5606 specifications. Using the correct fluid ensures proper sealing, lubrication, and performance across the jack’s operating temperature range. Mixing incompatible fluids can cause seal degradation or reduced lifting capability. Always follow the manufacturer’s fluid recommendations during servicing.
Routine maintenance includes checking fluid levels before use, lubricating casters periodically, and performing general inspections. A functional load test at 105% to 110% of rated capacity is recommended annually. These checks help verify safe operation and compliance with maintenance program requirements. Regular maintenance extends service life and reliability.
This aircraft tripod jack is designed for use on hard, level surfaces in controlled maintenance environments. It can be stored outdoors when properly covered to protect against moisture and contamination. Operating temperature limits must be adhered to in order to ensure optimal hydraulic performance. Proper storage practices help preserve seals and moving components.
The tripod jack is equipped with heavy-duty casters, allowing it to be rolled by hand across hangar floors. For longer-distance transport, it can be lifted using a crane or forklift following approved handling guidelines. Securing the jack during transport prevents it from shifting or sustaining damage. Proper handling protects both the equipment and personnel in the vicinity.
Yes! PJi offers a wide range of replacement parts for Tronair GSE, including the 02-7802C0111 tripod jack. Using OEM parts helps maintain safety certifications and proper jack performance. Unauthorized modifications or non-approved parts can void warranty coverage.
