QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Tronair 02-7813C0100 is a 12-ton hydraulic tripod jack designed for lifting aircraft during maintenance, inspection, and servicing operations. It provides stable, controlled lifting when used in accordance with approved aircraft jacking procedures. This aircraft jack is ideal for heavy-duty applications requiring higher lifting capacity. Proper use ensures safe and efficient maintenance workflows.
Yes, this aircraft tripod jack comes standard with 1" and 2" spacer blocks to help position the jack correctly under the aircraft. These spacer blocks improve versatility when working with different aircraft configurations. If you require a model without spacer blocks, you can order part number 02-7813C0100-A5. Selecting the right configuration helps ensure proper alignment and safe lifting.
The Tronair 02-7813C0100 hydraulic tripod jack is designed to use MIL-PRF-5606 hydraulic fluid. This aviation-approved fluid ensures proper lubrication, consistent hydraulic performance, and compatibility with internal components. Using the correct fluid helps prevent premature wear and maintains reliable operation. Always follow manufacturer recommendations when servicing the reservoir.
Before using this aircraft tripod jack, inspect the unit for hydraulic fluid leaks and ensure all nuts, bolts, and fasteners are secure. Verify that the hydraulic fluid level is maintained between 1/2" and 3/4" from the top of the reservoir fitting. Confirm that the reservoir vent screw is open to allow proper fluid movement. Performing these checks helps ensure safe and efficient operation.
To lift an aircraft safely, position the jack on a hard, level surface and, if needed, use spacer blocks to align it with the aircraft jack point. Extend the mechanical screw to meet the lifting point, then open the reservoir vent screw. Close the pump release valve, then begin pumping to gradually raise the aircraft. Always follow the aircraft manufacturer’s jacking procedures for safe operation.
To lower the aircraft safely, slowly loosen the pump release valve to allow a controlled descent. This gradual release helps prevent sudden drops and ensures a stable lowering of the load. Always verify that the area is clear and that the aircraft is properly supported. Controlled lowering is critical for maintaining safety during maintenance operations.
No, the reservoir vent screw must always be opened before operating the hydraulic tripod jack. The vent screw allows proper air movement within the reservoir, ensuring smooth hydraulic operation. Operating the jack with the vent screw closed can restrict fluid flow, leading to improper lifting or system damage. Always confirm the vent screw is open before use.
Several factors can affect lifting performance, including low hydraulic fluid levels, an improperly closed release valve, or a closed vent screw. Other potential issues include a leaking pressure relief valve or worn internal components such as check balls or valve bodies. Regular inspection and maintenance can help identify and resolve these issues early. Addressing these problems promptly ensures reliable operation.
If the jack does not lower, first ensure the reservoir vent screw is open and the pump release valve is properly loosened. Check that the ram locknut is disengaged and not restricting movement. Inspect for damaged or pinched O-rings that may be preventing fluid flow. Resolving these issues will typically restore normal lowering function.
Routine maintenance includes checking hydraulic fluid levels, inspecting seals and mechanical extensions, and verifying there are no leaks every 90 days. During this interval, all moving components should be examined for wear or damage. Keeping the jack clean and properly lubricated helps extend its service life. Consistent maintenance ensures safe and reliable performance.
A load test should be performed annually using a test load equal to 110% of the jack’s rated capacity. This ensures the jack can safely handle operational stresses and maintain proper performance. Regular load testing is critical for compliance and safety in aviation maintenance environments. You can contact Pilot John International’s GSE service team to schedule testing.
It is recommended to keep essential replacement kits on hand to minimize downtime during maintenance. Common spare parts include the K-1934 ram seal replacement kit and the K-4026 hydraulic pump repair kit. Having these components readily available allows for faster repairs and continued operation. Using OEM parts ensures compatibility and long-term reliability.
Replacement parts for this aircraft tripod jack can be ordered directly through Pilot John International. Our aviation specialists can assist with identifying the correct parts and ensuring compatibility. We also offer maintenance and repair support through our GSE service team. Ordering from a trusted source helps ensure quality and proper fit.
Yes, Tronair hydraulic tripod jacks are covered by a manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. If your jack experiences issues shortly after purchase, contact Pilot John International’s service team to initiate a warranty claim. Be prepared to provide the model number, serial number, purchase details, and a description of the issue. Prompt reporting helps ensure faster resolution and support.
