QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What is the main benefit of the Tronair 03-5400-0000 Jack Leg Extensions?
Answer:

The jack leg extensions are designed to increase the height capability of the Tronair 02-0234-0111 2-Ton Hydraulic Tripod Jack. By replacing the jack’s standard legs, these extensions allow technicians to service aircraft with higher jacking points, improving versatility across multiple airframes. This added range is especially useful for maintenance facilities handling mixed fleets of business and regional aircraft.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
How are the 03-5400-0000 leg extensions installed?
Answer:

To install the leg extensions, lay the jack on its side and replace each standard leg one at a time, securing each new leg with its locking pin. It’s essential to pay close attention to orientation, particularly for the two wheeled legs, to ensure proper balance and mobility. Once installed, the safety chain must be adjusted to account for the increased height before the jack is operated.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
Can the leg extensions be installed by one person?
Answer:

Yes, the extensions can be installed by a single qualified technician, though two-person handling is recommended for ease and safety. Each leg can be swapped individually while the jack rests on its side, minimizing physical strain. Following proper procedures ensures the extensions are securely locked and aligned for stable aircraft lifting operations.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
Do the leg extensions impact the jack’s lifting capacity?
Answer:

No, the 4,500-pound lifting capacity remains unchanged when using the extensions. The jack and extensions are engineered together to maintain structural integrity, load balance, and safety compliance at full height. Operators should still follow standard lifting protocols, including using a level surface and ensuring equal leg extension before lifting.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
What safety precautions should operators take when using the leg extensions?
Answer:

Operators must ensure that all three legs are extended equally and that the jack remains vertical during operation. The ram locking pin and safety chain should always be engaged before lifting or lowering the aircraft. Uneven leg adjustment or off-center placement can create instability and increase the risk of jack failure.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
How should the safety chain be adjusted after installing the leg extensions?
Answer:

After installing the extensions, the safety chain must be lengthened or repositioned to accommodate the new leg geometry. This ensures the jack legs cannot spread beyond safe limits during lifting operations. Neglecting to adjust the safety chain could compromise the jack’s stability when fully extended.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
What materials are the leg extensions made of?
Answer:

Like the base jack, the 03-5400-0000 leg extensions are constructed from high-strength steel to provide maximum durability and load-bearing performance. The steel legs are designed to resist bending, corrosion, and fatigue under heavy loads, ensuring consistent reliability through years of aircraft maintenance use.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
Do the extensions require any special maintenance?
Answer:

Routine maintenance is minimal and primarily involves visual inspection for corrosion, damage, or bent leg tubes. Cleaning the extensions after use and storing them in a dry environment helps prevent wear and tear. Tronair recommends periodic inspection alongside the annual jack load test and quarterly visual checks for optimal performance.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
Can the 03-5400-0000 extensions be used with other Tronair jacks?
Answer:

No. These leg extensions are specifically designed for the Tronair 02-0234-0111 2-Ton Hydraulic Tripod Jack and are not compatible with other Tronair jack models. Using them with non-approved equipment could cause improper fit, imbalance, or failure, and would void the manufacturer’s warranty.

Asked October 14, 2025
Question:
What warranty coverage applies to the leg extensions?
Answer:

Tronair provides a one-year warranty from the date of shipment covering manufacturing and material defects. Replacement parts carry a 90-day warranty from the date of shipment. The warranty is void if the extensions are modified, misused, or installed on non-approved jack models.
