QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What engines is the Tronair 08-0130-4000 Engine Sling designed for?
Answer:

The Tronair 08-0130-4000 Engine Sling is specifically engineered for the Pratt & Whitney PW-530A and PW-545A engines, ensuring precise lifting and positioning during removal, installation, or maintenance. Its design adheres to the engine manufacturer’s handling requirements, providing stable and secure engine support in both hangar and field operations.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
What materials are used in the construction of this engine sling?
Answer:

This engine sling is constructed with a lightweight aluminum I-beam, paired with aluminum clevis blocks and steel connection straps, providing strength and corrosion resistance without excessive weight. The combination of materials enables durability in demanding maintenance environments while ensuring safe load handling.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
What is the rated load capacity of the 08-0130-4000 Engine Sling?
Answer:

The rated load capacity of the Tronair 08-0130-4000 is 1,500 lbs (680 kg) at the lift point. During testing, it must safely sustain 125% of the rated load for one minute without any signs of deformation or failure, confirming compliance with aviation-grade lifting standards.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
How often should the engine sling be inspected or serviced?
Answer:

Inspection frequency depends on usage conditions: annually under normal service, semi-annually for heavy use, and quarterly under severe or abnormal operating conditions. Special or infrequent use requires inspection by a qualified technician before each operation. Tronair also recommends sending the unit to an authorized service center for recertification to ensure continued reliability and optimal performance.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
What testing procedure should be followed to verify the sling’s integrity?
Answer:

To verify structural integrity, load-test the sling to 125% of its rated capacity for one minute, then inspect for any broken welds, elongated holes, or deformation. Testing ensures that the unit remains safe for continued use in high-load lifting operations and meets Tronair’s OEM standards.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
Can the engine sling be modified for other engine types?
Answer:

No. The 08-0130-4000 is engineered exclusively for PW-530A and PW-545A engines and must not be modified without written approval from Tronair. Unauthorized modifications void the warranty and release Tronair from any liability for damages or safety issues that result.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
Which engine sling adapter is required for Pratt & Whitney PW530A and PW545A engines?
Answer:

The K-2868 Engine Sling Adapter Kit is used for Pratt & Whitney PW530A and PW545A aircraft engines in conjunction with the 08-0130-4000, 08-0134-4000, and 08-0135-4000 engine sling bar assemblies.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
How should the engine sling be stored when not in use?
Answer:

The sling should be stored in a dry, indoor environment away from corrosive materials and moisture. It’s best to clean all metal surfaces and lightly lubricate moving joints before storage. Proper storage helps maintain the aluminum and steel components, preventing corrosion over time.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
Where can operators obtain replacement parts for the 08-0130-4000?
Answer:

PJi offers a range of replacement parts and kits for the Tronair 08-0130-4000 engine sling. When ordering, always provide the model number, serial number, and unit color to ensure the correct part is supplied. Common replacement items include rear lift plates, clevis blocks, and ball-lock T-pins.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
What spare parts are recommended for maintenance readiness?
Answer:

Tronair recommends keeping spare ball-lock T-pins, slide block assemblies, and rear lift plate kits on hand for quick replacement during scheduled maintenance. These parts are critical for maintaining safe and efficient lifting operations in busy MRO environments.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
What warranty coverage does Tronair provide for this engine sling?
Answer:

Tronair warrants the 08-0130-4000 against manufacturing and material defects for a period of one year from the date of shipment to the original customer. Replacement parts carry a 90-day warranty. The warranty does not cover normal wear components or unauthorized modifications, which will void all coverage.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
How does Tronair ensure product safety and compliance?
Answer:

The engine sling is CE certified and built to meet EN ISO 12100-1 and EN 1915-1:2001 safety standards for ground support equipment. Every unit undergoes strict quality assurance checks at Tronair’s Ohio facility to guarantee consistent performance and compliance with aviation maintenance requirements.

Asked October 22, 2025
Question:
What should I do if the sling shows signs of wear or damage?
Answer:

If you detect cracks, distortion, or wear on any component, discontinue use immediately and contact Pilot John International (an authorized Tronair service center) for inspection. Continuing operation under these conditions can lead to structural failure and safety hazards. Only OEM replacement parts should be used during repair.
