QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
An aircraft engine work stand is used to securely hold an engine during inspection, servicing, and maintenance procedures. It helps technicians safely position the engine for access to multiple components without placing it on the floor or unstable surfaces. This supports more efficient workflows in shop and hangar environments.
This engine work stand is designed for use with multiple popular turbine engine platforms, including Garrett TFE731 series engines, Williams FJ44 engines, and Pratt & Whitney JT15D engines. It also supports Cessna PW615F engines when used with the correct adapter kit. Always verify the correct engine adapter configuration before installation.
This work stand is designed to rotate into an infinite number of positions, and the desired position can be secured using a locking mechanism. After the engine is rotated into place, the rotation crank must be pinned to guard against unintended movement. Properly securing the engine helps reduce risk during maintenance tasks.
Yes. The engine work stand includes an oil pan with a drain to capture excess fluid during engine inspection and maintenance tasks. This helps keep the work area cleaner and supports safer shop conditions when servicing oil-containing components.
One important step is to ensure the engine adapters are installed in the correct orientation before mounting the engine on the stand. The manual notes that the rotating mechanism may turn hard and could contribute to stand failure if the engine arms are attached backward. Confirming the correct adapter direction helps prevent binding and operational strain.
Before each use, the stand should be visually inspected to confirm all components are present and functional. This includes checking that bolts and nuts are secure, casters and locks operate properly, and there are no bent or broken components. The stand should not be used if any component is damaged or excessively worn.
Periodic lubrication is recommended for key moving components, including the swivel caster bearing race and the gear box assembly. If the gear mechanism becomes difficult to operate, common causes include insufficient lubrication, dirt in the mechanism, misalignment, or worn parts. Regular upkeep helps support smooth rotation and reliable handling.
The manual recommends an annual load test, with steps including lubricating the spindles and gearbox, inspecting the anti-rotation locking mechanism, and installing a 1000-lb test weight. The load should be rotated 360° in both directions, and the operation should remain free of binding or catching. After testing, the stand should be inspected for signs of wear or failure.
Yes! The Tronair 08-2021C0000 Engine Work Stand is CE certified, making it suitable for use in European countries and other regions where CE compliance is required. This helps ensure the stand meets applicable safety and conformity requirements for regulated aviation maintenance environments.
