QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Per-hour operating costs for the Tronair Series 5430/5431 HPU can vary depending on location, usage frequency, and maintenance practices. To help minimize expenses, Tronair recommends operating the unit at least once a month if it is not used regularly. Routine operation keeps seals lubricated, eliminates air pockets, reduces moisture in the hydraulic fluid, and helps extend the life of the hose.
Additionally, the filter element should be replaced annually to maintain system cleanliness. Gauges should be calibrated at least once a year, and hoses should be inspected and replaced as needed due to wear and tear. Following these preventative maintenance steps helps lower long-term repair costs and ensures reliable HPU performance.
While this model comes standard with a 3-phase, 208V AC voltage, the unit's voltage can be reset to 230V, 380V, or 480V at 60 Hz. Since these units are custom-built, any voltage changes must be requested at the time of ordering.
Available options for the Tronair 5431 Series HPU include:
- 25' Hoses (Option AA)
- 50' Hoses (Option B/BB)
- Split System (Option C)
- Split System with Crossover Check (Option D)
- Hourmeter (Option E/F – 50 and 60 Hz)
- Voltage Monitor (Option G-J – Voltage-Specific)
- Pyrometer (Option K)
- Electrical Reservoir Level (Option L)
- Hand Pump (Option M)
- Towing/Trailer Package (Option N)
- Reservoir Return (Option P)
- Calibration Port (Option Q)
- Electrical Filter Clogged Indicator (Option R)
- Electric Over-Temperature (Option S)
- Return Back-Pressure with Sight Gauge (Option T – Skydrol Only)
- Return Sight Gauge (Option U/Y)
- Return Back-Pressure (Option V/1)
- 50' Hand Pump (Option X)
- Drip Pan (Option 4)
- Hand Pump (Large Displacement) (Option 7)
- Pressure-Reducing Valve (Split System) (Option 8)
- 100' Input Cable
Hydraulic fluid in the Tronair 5430/5431 HPU should be checked regularly and replaced when contamination, moisture, or degradation is detected. Routine fluid changes are recommended as part of annual preventative maintenance, especially in high-use environments. Using clean, manufacturer-approved hydraulic fluid ensures optimal system performance and extends the life of critical components.
Before operating the Tronair 5430/5431 HPU, technicians should verify fluid levels, inspect hoses for leaks or wear, and ensure all connections are secure. Operators should also verify the gauges for proper calibration and confirm that safety features, such as the filter and pressure relief systems, are functioning properly. Performing these quick inspections reduces downtime and enhances operational safety.
The replacement pressure hose for the 5431 Series HPU is TF-1040-01*300, and the return hose is TF-1041-01*300.
