PRODUCT REVIEWS
The packing list was clearly viable and secured efficiently to the crate.
The poly wrap was thick - perhaps could have been double wrapped.
The crate was clean and not covered in advertising which would have been uncalled for and is convenient as we repurpose our crates to eliminate as much waste as possible. If your advertising was on the crate this make cause confusion for our clients.
Your invoicing was clear and the part labeled clearly.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Tronair KHC-1004 is used to connect an aircraft to the pressure and return lines on an aircraft hydraulic power unit (HPU) during servicing. This quick-disconnect coupling kit helps maintenance teams make secure connections for hydraulic fluid transfer and system support. Using the correct HPU coupling kit helps reduce setup time and supports more consistent hydraulic servicing practices.
Quick-disconnect couplers enable technicians to connect and disconnect hydraulic hoses efficiently, thereby reducing fluid loss and leakage. A secure coupling supports safer hydraulic servicing by improving connection reliability and minimizing the risk of spills or air ingress. This is especially valuable during repeated HPU hookups in busy hangar and flight line maintenance environments.
Yes. HPU quick-disconnect kits, including the KHC-1004, are aircraft-specific because hydraulic system couplings and specifications can vary between platforms. These couplers are designed to match the unique hydraulic requirements of different aircraft models, ensuring proper compatibility and secure connections. If you’re unsure whether this kit is compatible with your specific aircraft, please contact our aviation specialists for assistance.
Aircraft hydraulic servicing typically utilizes a pressure line to supply hydraulic fluid under pressure and a return line to route the fluid back to the HPU reservoir. The KHC-1004 kit includes components labeled for both PRESSURE and RETURN, reinforcing that it’s designed to support a complete HPU hookup. Using the correct couplers for each line helps prevent misconnection and improves servicing safety.
The quick-disconnect couplings in the KHC-1004 kit are intended for use only with mineral-based hydraulic fluids. This is important because hydraulic couplers contain seals and internal components that must match the aircraft’s fluid type, and phosphate-ester fluids (such as Skydrol) require different compatible materials. Using mineral-fluid couplings with phosphate-ester fluids can degrade seals, lead to leaks, and increase the risk of contamination. Always verify the aircraft’s hydraulic fluid type and confirm coupling compatibility before use to protect both the coupling kit and the aircraft hydraulic system.
Dust plugs help prevent dirt, moisture, and debris from entering the coupler when it’s not in use. Keeping couplers capped supports cleaner hydraulic connections and reduces the chance of introducing contamination into the aircraft hydraulic system. In maintenance environments, this is a simple step that can help prevent avoidable hydraulic system issues.
Hydraulic coupling kits should be stored clean and dry, with dust plugs installed and fittings protected from impact damage. Many shops store coupler kits in a dedicated case or sealed container to minimize the risk of contamination. Good storage practices help maintain seal integrity and improve long-term reliability.
Before connection, technicians should inspect the couplers for dirt, damage, worn seals, and thread wear, and ensure dust caps/plugs have been used correctly. They should also confirm they’re connecting to the correct pressure and return ports. These simple checks help reduce leaks, support safer hydraulic servicing, and improve consistency during HPU use.
No. The KHC-1004 cannot be modified without written approval from Tronair. Any unauthorized modification voids the warranty and releases Tronair from liability. Because hydraulic couplings are safety-critical, modifying components can create sealing problems or reduce pressure integrity. The safest practice is to select the correct OEM coupling kit for your aircraft and the specific type of fluid.
PJi recommends specifying the model, color, and serial number of the unit when ordering replacement parts or kits to ensure a proper fit. Providing this information helps ensure the correct components are supplied and reduces the chance of ordering mismatched parts. It also speeds up support if troubleshooting or a warranty review is required.
Tronair products are warranted to be free of manufacturing or material defects for one year after shipment to the original customer, and replacement parts carry a 90-day warranty. The warranty does not cover parts required for normal maintenance or parts covered by other component manufacturer warranties.
A dedicated aircraft hydraulic coupling kit helps technicians connect an HPU more quickly and with fewer setup errors compared to using improvised fittings. By supporting secure, repeatable hookups, the kit can expedite hydraulic servicing tasks and help maintain schedules on track. For high-utilization operations, having the correct quick-disconnect couplers ready can make a measurable difference in turnaround time.
