QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What aircraft types is the TR-34SR towbar compatible with?
Answer:

The Brackett TR-34SR is a universal aircraft towbar designed to fit 90% of general aviation nose-wheel aircraft up to 14,000 lbs gross weight. With its telescoping design and shock ring hitch, it works with a wide range of nose wheel assemblies across business jets, turboprops, and light general aviation aircraft. Optional adapters are available for special applications, making it highly versatile in mixed-fleet operations.

Asked September 15, 2025
Question:
How does the shock ring hitch improve towing?
Answer:

The shock ring hitch reduces the impact and strain that occur when an aircraft starts or stops moving during towing. By absorbing these forces, the hitch helps protect both the aircraft nose gear and the towing vehicle from sudden jolts. This feature also reduces operator fatigue and makes towing smoother and safer.

Asked September 15, 2025
Question:
How is the towbar attached to an aircraft?
Answer:

The TR-34SR uses interchangeable towbar head assemblies that can be rotated and locked into position. Operators depress the retaining pin, rotate the head assembly 180°, and then secure it onto the aircraft lugs or nose wheel axle. The crank system then tightens the towbar to hold the head firmly in place with light pressure.

Asked September 15, 2025
Question:
Does the telescoping feature require tools to adjust?
Answer:

No, the telescoping adjustment of the TR-34SR does not require additional tools. Operators simply extend or retract the towbar between 92” and 104” to fit the aircraft being serviced. This design ensures quick setup and flexibility during busy ramp or hangar operations.

Asked September 15, 2025
Question:
Is the TR-34SR suitable for tailwheel aircraft?
Answer:

While the TR-34SR is primarily designed for nose wheel aircraft, Brackett provides specialized adapters for certain tailwheel models. Examples include the TWA-10 and TWA-11 adapters, which allow use with Scott and Staggerwing tail wheels. This expands the utility of the towbar across mixed fleets that may include both nose and tail wheel aircraft.

Asked September 15, 2025
Question:
How durable is the TR-34SR for daily use?
Answer:

Constructed from heavy-duty steel and precision components, the TR-34SR is built for long service life in demanding MRO, FBO, and flight line environments. The shock-absorbing hitch reduces stress on the towbar itself, further extending its durability. With proper maintenance, Brackett towbars are known for their reliability and rugged performance.

Asked September 15, 2025
Question:
What maintenance is required for the TR-34SR towbar?
Answer:

The TR-34SR towbar requires minimal maintenance, but operators should routinely inspect the retaining pins, crank mechanism, and shock ring hitch for wear. Lubrication of moving parts ensures smooth operation, and any damaged components should be replaced promptly with OEM parts. Regular inspections help maintain safe operation and extend service life.
