QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Nav-Aids ADA145M-945 is a purpose-built air data accessories kit designed to test the complete pitot and static system from source on Embraer ERJ-135, ERJ-140, and ERJ-145 aircraft, as well as the Embraer Legacy 600 and Legacy 650.
The kit supports both standard and RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum) air data testing, making it suitable for the full range of scheduled maintenance and RVSM compliance requirements on these aircraft. It also includes the means to pre-test all adapters and hoses before they are connected to the aircraft.
Yes! The ADA145M-945 kit is specifically designed to allow pre-testing of all adapters and hoses before they are installed on the aircraft. The pre-test probes (PT17570 and PT19786) simulate the pitot head when installed in their respective adapters, allowing technicians to verify the integrity of the adapters, hoses, and test set before connecting to the aircraft's probes. The pre-test plates (PT13414-2-2) serve a similar verification function for the static test adapters. Pre-testing all components ensures a reliable, leak-free connection once the adapters are fitted to the aircraft.
The PT17570 Pre-Test Probe is used to verify the integrity of the P75701-3 pitot adapters, connecting hoses, and test set before they are connected to the aircraft. The PT19786 Pre-Test Probe serves the same purpose for the PSS97865-3-4-4 Standby Pitot & Dual Static Adapter and its associated hoses and test set. Both probes are installed into their respective adapters, simulating the pitot head and allowing technicians to confirm adapter integrity before connecting to the aircraft's probes.
Nav-Aids LF5050 Lubricating Fluid is used to lubricate the interior glands of the pitot and static test adapters before installation, helping to extend seal life and ensure smooth installation onto the aircraft's probes. To apply, place just one or two drops onto the surface of the applicable pre-test probe, then insert the probe into the adapter using a slight clockwise/counterclockwise rotation during the pre-test stage. Nav-Aids LF5050 is the only approved lubricant for this purpose – using any other substance may have adverse effects that could constitute a flight safety hazard.
The P75701-3 Pitot Adapter fits pitot probes 0851HU and 0851HU3 located on the nose of the Embraer ERJ-135, ERJ-140, ERJ-145, and Legacy 600/650 aircraft. Once installed, the adapters isolate the pitot systems and allow each to be tested separately or simultaneously when connected to the pitot test hose assembly. Two adapters are included in the ADA145M-945 kit – one for each pitot system.
The PSS97865-3-4-4 Standby Pitot & Dual Static Adapter fits the pitot-static probe 856NF located on the nose of the ERJ-135, ERJ-140, and ERJ-145 aircraft, serving as the standby pitot-static tube. One adapter is included in the kit and allows technicians to test the standby pitot and the dual static system as part of the complete pitot-static test workflow. The PT19786 pre-test probe is used to verify the integrity of this adapter and its associated hoses before installation on the aircraft.
The S34146-4 Static Test Adapter attaches to the aircraft's static vents by removing two static mounting screws and locating the adapter's mounting screw into that position. Before securing the adapter with the retaining studs, ensure the pressure seal is retracted slightly inside the bracket. The large knurled nut controls the forward and retracting action of the seal, and it is advisable to attach the hose to the fitting before installing the adapter on the aircraft.
The EMB-7270 RVSM Pitot Test Hose Assembly connects to each pitot inlet of the adapters and is fitted with double-acting quick disconnects, which allow testing of a single pitot system when desired. The pitot outlet connection for the pneumatic generator is included in this assembly.
The EMB-5160 RVSM Static Test Hose Assembly attaches to the static fittings and operates in the same manner, using double-acting quick disconnects and an extension fitting that connects to the static outlet hose of the air data test set. Together, both assemblies support individual or simultaneous testing of all static main and standby positions as required for standard and RVSM air data testing.
The CPAM-421 Test Assembly is used to accomplish Embraer maintenance task 21-32-01-700-801A – the Cabin Pressure Acquisition Module (CPAM) Functional Test – which verifies the performance of the Cabin Pressure Acquisition Module after removal or installation. This assembly is included in the ADA145M-945 kit to support the full range of maintenance tasks associated with ERJ-135/140/145 and Legacy 600/650 aircraft. For exact test procedures, always refer to the Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Manual.
