QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What safety features are built into the Tronair 5-Ton Tripod Jack?
Answer:

The Tronair 02-7837C0110 tripod jack incorporates multiple safety mechanisms, including user-operated ram locknuts, a pressure relief valve to prevent overload, and a velocity fuse to prevent uncontrolled descent in the event of hydraulic line failure. Air pump–equipped models also include a hold-to-run air valve, which requires constant operator engagement to raise the ram. These integrated safety features help protect both technicians and aircraft during lifting operations.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
Why are ram locknuts critical during aircraft jacking operations?
Answer:

Ram locknuts are a primary mechanical safety device designed to prevent unintended lowering of the aircraft under load. The manual specifies that locknuts must be lowered as the aircraft is being raised and kept within close proximity to the ram stop. Proper use of these locknuts is essential for maintaining aircraft stability and technician safety during maintenance.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What type of hydraulic fluid is recommended for this aircraft tripod jack?
Answer:

The Tronair 5-ton two-stage jack is designed to use MIL-PRF-5606 hydraulic fluid. Maintaining the correct fluid type ensures proper lubrication, seal integrity, and lifting performance. Using approved aviation hydraulic fluid also supports long-term reliability and compliance with maintenance best practices.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What are the air supply requirements for models equipped with the pneumatic pump?
Answer:

For models with the air pump option (02A7837C0110), the recommended air supply pressure is 40 PSI, with a minimum of 25 PSI and a maximum of 125 PSI. Proper air pressure ensures efficient ram extension without overstressing internal components. Adhering to these limits helps maintain safe and controlled lifting performance.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
How should the jack be positioned for safe aircraft lifting?
Answer:

The jack must be placed on a hard, level surface before lifting begins. Technicians should ensure mating surfaces between the jack pad and aircraft jack point are clean and free of debris. Following proper positioning procedures helps prevent instability and protects both the aircraft structure and ground support equipment.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What routine maintenance is required for the Tronair 5-ton tripod jack?
Answer:

Routine maintenance includes checking hydraulic fluid level before each use, lubricating casters every three months, and performing annual cleaning and load testing. Annual capacity testing should be conducted at 105% to 110% of the jack’s rated capacity. Following the prescribed maintenance schedule helps ensure long-term performance and operational safety.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
How should the jack be stored when not in use?
Answer:

The jack should be stored with the ram fully retracted and kept within a temperature range of -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C). For outdoor storage, it should be protected with a full-coverage waterproof tarp or canvas. Proper storage prevents corrosion, seal degradation, and contamination of hydraulic components.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
Who is qualified to operate or service this aircraft tripod jack?
Answer:

The jack is intended for use by skilled and trained aircraft technicians familiar with aircraft jacking procedures. Installation, maintenance, and dismantling must be performed by qualified personnel with knowledge of hydraulic systems. Proper training ensures safe lifting operations and compliance with aviation maintenance standards.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What warranty coverage applies to the Tronair 02-7837C0110 tripod jack?
Answer:

The manufacturer provides a one-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship from the date of shipment. Replacement parts carry a 90-day warranty. Unauthorized modifications or misuse can void warranty coverage, reinforcing the importance of following manufacturer guidelines for operation and service.
