PilotJohn was helpful in finding and verifying the correct equipment needed for our Piaggio P180 Avanti I. They located the correct jacks needed and gave us an accurate timeframe to expect them. The Jacks were packaged well and protected against damage despite the shipping companies best efforts. overall the experience was great! When I called for accounting help and shipping updates I was able to reach a human!

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What role does the mechanical ram locknut play on the Tronair 02-7812C0110 tripod jack?
Answer:

The mechanical ram locknut on the Tronair 02-7812C0110 provides an added layer of safety by preventing unintended lowering of the jack under load. Once the aircraft is raised, the locknut is lowered into position to mechanically support the load rather than relying solely on hydraulic pressure. This reduces the risk of pressure loss affecting stability during maintenance. It is a critical safety feature for secure aircraft support.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
How does the tripod design improve stability during aircraft maintenance?
Answer:

The tripod configuration distributes the load evenly across three points of contact, enhancing balance and stability during aircraft lifting. Combined with a wide base radius, this design minimizes the risk of tipping during operation. It is particularly beneficial when working on uneven hangar floors or during extended maintenance procedures. This stable footprint supports safer and more controlled lifting.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
What safety precautions should be followed when using the Tronair 02-7812C0110 jack?
Answer:

Operators should always use the jack on a hard, level surface and ensure proper alignment with the aircraft jack point. The manual emphasizes using a tail or nose stand in conjunction with the tripod jack for additional stability. It is also important to raise and lower all jacks simultaneously to keep the aircraft level. Following these precautions helps prevent sudden load shifts and ensures safe operation.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
Why is proper locking pin placement important for this tripod jack?
Answer:

The locking pin must be correctly positioned within the ram protection ring groove to ensure safe operation. Incorrect placement can lead to deformation, reduced load capacity, or potential jack failure under load. The manual highlights several incorrect configurations that can compromise safety, reinforcing the importance of proper installation. Ensuring correct pin placement helps maintain structural integrity and operator safety.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
What type of routine maintenance is recommended for the Tronair 02-7812C0110 tripod jack?
Answer:

Routine maintenance includes checking hydraulic fluid levels, inspecting seals and O-rings, and ensuring all fasteners are properly tightened. The manual also recommends periodically extending and retracting the jack to keep the seals lubricated and prevent internal corrosion. Cleaning and protecting the ram threads with approved lubricants can further extend service life. Regular maintenance helps ensure consistent performance and reliability.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
How often should the Tronair 02-7812C0110 tripod jack be inspected or tested?
Answer:

Preventative maintenance inspections should be performed every 90 days, along with annual load testing to verify performance under rated capacity. The maintenance schedule includes checking for leaks, inspecting structural components, and verifying proper operation of the hydraulic system. Load testing should not exceed the rated capacity plus 10%. These checks help maintain compliance and ensure safe operation over time.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
How does the hydraulic system contribute to smooth lifting performance?
Answer:

The hydraulic system uses a single-acting cylinder and a hand pump to provide controlled, steady lifting of the aircraft. Internal check valves and pressure relief components help maintain consistent pressure and prevent overload conditions. This allows operators to raise the aircraft gradually and precisely. The result is smoother operation and better control during maintenance procedures.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
Can the Tronair 02-7812C0110 tripod jack be serviced with replacement parts?
Answer:

Yes, the jack is fully serviceable using OEM replacement parts and kits. PJi provides kits for seals, internal components, and hydraulic pump assemblies. Using approved parts ensures proper fit and maintains the jack’s original performance specifications. This serviceability helps extend the equipment's lifespan and reduce long-term operating costs.

Asked May 7, 2026
Question:
What storage and handling practices help extend the life of the tripod jack?
Answer:

Proper storage is essential to protect the jack from contamination and environmental damage. The manual recommends covering the unit during washing or cleaning operations to prevent dirt or chemicals from damaging seals and O-rings. Keeping the jack clean and storing it in a dry environment helps prevent corrosion and seal degradation. Following these practices ensures long-term reliability and consistent performance.
