QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What is the primary purpose of the Nav-Aids CITC-945 air data accessories kit?
Answer:

The Nav-Aids CITC-945 air data accessories kit is designed to support accurate pitot and static system testing on Cessna Citation aircraft. It enables technicians to test air data systems directly from the source, ensuring pressure integrity and system reliability. This capability is critical for both standard air data checks and RVSM compliance testing. By supporting precise connections and isolation, the kit helps reduce troubleshooting time and improve test confidence.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
How does the CITC-945 support RVSM compliance testing?
Answer:

RVSM testing requires extremely accurate pitot and static system measurements, often with multiple systems tested independently or simultaneously. The CITC-945 provides the means to connect to all main and standby static positions as required for RVSM procedures. This allows technicians to verify system accuracy, leakage limits, and pressure stability within RVSM tolerances. Proper RVSM testing helps ensure continued approval for flight in reduced vertical separation airspace.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
Why is source testing of pitot and static systems necessary?
Answer:

Source testing verifies the integrity of the air data system from the probes and static ports inward, rather than only checking downstream instruments. This approach helps identify leaks, restrictions, or adapter issues that could affect altitude, airspeed, or vertical speed indications. Performing source testing improves overall confidence in air data accuracy. It is especially important for aircraft operating in RVSM airspace.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
Can the CITC-945 be used to test multiple air data systems at once?
Answer:

Yes, the CITC-945 is designed to allow for the individual or simultaneous testing of multiple pitot and static systems, as required by the maintenance procedure. This flexibility supports efficient troubleshooting and comparison testing between systems. It is particularly useful when verifying system symmetry or isolating faults between primary and standby air data sources. Technicians should always follow the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) for the approved test configuration.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
How does pre-testing benefit air data maintenance procedures?
Answer:

Pre-testing adapters, hoses, and test equipment before installation helps confirm system integrity and prevents false test results. The CITC-945 supports this process by allowing components to be tested independently of the aircraft. This reduces the risk of chasing non-existent leaks or misinterpreting test data. Pre-testing ultimately saves time and improves maintenance accuracy.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
What role do maintenance manuals play when using the CITC-945?
Answer:

While the CITC-945 provides the physical means to connect and test air data systems, the aircraft manufacturer’s maintenance manual defines the exact procedures and limits. Technicians must follow these manuals to ensure correct test sequencing and acceptable tolerances. Using the kit in accordance with approved procedures helps maintain regulatory compliance. It also ensures test results are valid and repeatable.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
How does the CITC-945 help reduce troubleshooting time?
Answer:

By providing direct access to pitot and static sources, the CITC-945 simplifies system isolation and fault identification. Technicians can quickly determine whether an issue originates at the probe, adapter, hose, or downstream system. This targeted approach reduces unnecessary component removals and repeat testing. Faster troubleshooting helps minimize aircraft downtime.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
What maintenance environments is the CITC-945 best suited for?
Answer:

The CITC-945 is well-suited for use in MRO facilities, line maintenance environments, and avionics shops performing air data system checks. Its enclosed case design supports organized storage and transport between aircraft. The kit is commonly used during scheduled inspections, RVSM recertification, and troubleshooting air data discrepancies. Proper handling and storage help preserve long-term reliability.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
How should the CITC-945 be handled to prevent test errors?
Answer:

Care should be taken to ensure all connections are clean, properly seated, and free of contamination before testing. Hoses and adapters should be inspected for damage or wear before use. Applying proper lubrication where specified helps ensure seals function correctly during testing. Following these practices helps prevent leaks and inaccurate readings.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
Is calibration necessary when using air data test accessories like the CITC-945?
Answer:

Yes, accurate air data testing depends on properly calibrated test equipment used in conjunction with the accessory kit. While the CITC-945 itself provides physical connections, the associated test sets and measurement devices must be within calibration. Regular calibration supports reliable results and regulatory compliance. Best practice is to follow both the manufacturer’s and the shop’s calibration programs.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
How does the CITC-945 support consistent, repeatable testing results?
Answer:

The kit is designed to provide stable, repeatable connections to pitot and static ports, minimizing variability between tests. Consistent sealing and hose routing help ensure pressure readings remain accurate across multiple test cycles. This repeatability is especially important for trend monitoring and RVSM verification. Reliable test setups support better long-term maintenance planning.

Asked December 15, 2025
Question:
What are the long-term benefits of using a dedicated air data accessories kit?
Answer:

Using a dedicated air data accessories kit, such as the CITC-945, helps standardize testing procedures across technicians and facilities. It reduces reliance on improvised fittings that can introduce errors or damage ports. Over time, consistent use supports improved reliability and compliance of the air data system. This contributes to safer operations and reduced rework during inspections.
