Need a Quote?
The START PAC Portable Power Supply model 53050-12/14V is the smallest 12V power supply on the market. It is designed to power up 12 Volt aircraft systems. The voltage output is set to 14.2 Volts to simulate the same voltage as when the aircraft is running under power. Maximum amperage output is 50 amps which is adequate for powering up most light 12V aircraft cockpits. This unit is ideal for powering up new and old aircraft with glass cockpits.
When utilizing this mini power supply, the aircraft electrical system can be powered up for GPS programming and light-duty maintenance, bypassing the aircraft battery, thus preserving it from unnecessary wear. Moreover, the onboard aircraft battery is also saved for starting.
This unit is NOT designed for engine starting or battery charging.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Start Pac 53050-12V is designed to power up 12V aircraft systems during maintenance, programming, and cockpit checks. By providing an external DC power source, it allows technicians to run avionics, GPS programming, and electrical systems without drawing on the aircraft battery. This helps extend battery life and ensures the aircraft is ready to start when needed.
No, the Start Pac 53050-12V is not designed for engine starting or battery charging. Its function is to power aircraft electrical systems at 12V during light-duty maintenance tasks. Using it for starting could damage the unit or fail to deliver the necessary current required for engine ignition.
The Start Pac 53050-12V includes multiple built-in safety features, such as overcurrent, overvoltage, and overtemperature protection. These safeguards ensure stable power delivery and prevent accidental damage to sensitive aircraft avionics. The unit is also CE certified, adding an extra layer of reliability and compliance for aviation maintenance operations.
Yes, the unit is cooled by a continuous-duty fan to maintain safe operating temperatures during extended use. This cooling system helps prevent overheating, ensuring the unit delivers consistent performance during prolonged cockpit powering tasks. The fan cooling feature makes it suitable for maintenance environments where reliability is critical.
The Start Pac 53050-12V is commonly used for GPS updates, avionics programming, system checks, and cockpit lighting tests. These tasks often require powering the aircraft’s electrical system without draining the main battery. Bypassing the onboard power source ensures that technicians can complete updates and tests efficiently.
The unit is lightweight, weighing only 9 lbs (4.08 kg) and having compact dimensions of 14" x 5.25" x 5.5". Its small footprint and easy portability make it convenient for technicians to carry between hangars or across the ramp, a major advantage for MRO facilities and field service operations.
Yes, since it provides direct 12V DC output, the Start Pac 53050-12V can support aircraft systems regardless of whether the onboard battery is lead-acid or lithium-based. However, it bypasses the battery entirely, supplying stable power directly to the systems instead of interacting with or charging the battery.
Yes, the Start Pac 53050-12V includes overtemperature protection to prevent damage during extended operation. This feature automatically safeguards the unit if it begins to exceed safe temperature thresholds. Coupled with fan cooling, it ensures long service life and consistent performance in demanding aviation environments.
The Start Pac 53050-12V eliminates unnecessary battery drain by supplying power for avionics and cockpit systems during maintenance. Aircraft batteries are preserved for engine starting rather than depleted by repeated programming and checks. This reduces battery wear, lowers replacement costs, and improves operational readiness.
