Start Pac 53050 – 50-Amp Portable Aircraft Power Supply
Need a Quote?
The Start Pac 53050 is a 28.5V continuous DC portable power supply when plugged into 110V/220V single-phase AC power. This unit will deliver a full 50-amp DC output continuously, but will not provide enough current for aircraft engine starting or mining equipment starting. This unit is designed to power up various systems, such as programming GPS and avionics, and is also an excellent choice to power aircraft maintenance equipment.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Start Pac 53050 is designed for use with 24-volt aircraft systems, including both fixed-wing and rotorcraft models. It delivers clean, continuous power at 28.5 volts, making it ideal for powering avionics and onboard systems without engaging the aircraft’s engines or APU. This helps reduce engine wear and improve operational efficiency during maintenance or avionics updates.
No. The Start Pac 53050 is not intended for aircraft engine starting. It is a continuous power supply designed strictly to provide stable voltage for aircraft systems during ground maintenance or avionics programming. Using it to attempt a start could damage both the GPU and the aircraft’s systems.
Portability is a key feature of the Start Pac 53050. Weighing approximately 10 lbs (4.5 kg), the unit is housed in a durable, wheeled case with a handle, allowing technicians to move it easily around the hangar or tarmac. Its compact footprint makes the 53050 a field-ready solution for line maintenance or remote operations.
Yes. Like all power supplies, the Start Pac 53050 should be operated in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. The unit includes internal cooling fans, but placing it in an open space away from obstructions ensures optimal performance and longevity.
The Start Pac 53050 power supply requires minimal maintenance. Regular visual inspections to check for dust buildup around the cooling vents and ensuring that the power cables and connectors remain in good condition are generally sufficient. It’s also advisable to store it in a dry, cool place when not in use.
No, the Start Pac 53050 outputs a fixed voltage of 28.5V, specifically designed to match the power requirements of 24V aircraft systems. This fixed output ensures stable and predictable performance during avionics updates and system checks.
The standard configuration of the Start Pac 53050 includes the main GPU unit with a rugged exterior case, 10' (3 m) output cables with an aviation-style connector, and internal protective circuitry. Optional accessories such as cable extensions and replacement output cables are available separately.
The Start Pac 53050 is rated for continuous operation as long as it is connected to an appropriate AC power source. There are no built-in runtime limits, so it can support extended maintenance or avionics sessions without interruption.
To ensure longevity, store the unit in a dry, temperate environment, preferably indoors. Make sure the power cord and cables are coiled neatly and avoid placing heavy items on the unit. Protecting it from moisture and extreme temperatures will help maintain peak performance.
