QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Tronair 08-4060-6700 3-Gallon Engine Compressor Washer is designed for cleaning and rinsing small turbine and very light jet (VLJ) engines. Its compact, portable design makes it ideal for business-jet operators, regional maintenance facilities, and FBOs that service smaller turbine aircraft.
This model features two 3-gallon pressure tanks – one for cleaning solution and one for rinse water – giving it a total system capacity of 6 gallons. The dual-tank setup allows operators to easily switch between cleaning and rinsing cycles without refilling or cross-contaminating fluids.
The 08-4060-6700 utilizes standard shop air, up to 125 PSI, as its power source. It includes a pressure regulator and safety valves to control operating pressure, ensuring safe and consistent washing performance in any maintenance environment.
The cleaning tank features an integrated agitation tube that continuously stirs the cleaning solution during operation. This prevents chemical settling, maintains solution effectiveness, and ensures consistent cleaning performance throughout each wash cycle.
The flow rate is adjustable via a 1/2" ball valve on the 1/4" delivery hose, allowing technicians to fine-tune pressure and volume for various engine wash procedures. The typical flow rate ranges from 1 gallon per minute at 20 PSI to 1.5 gallons per minute at 40 PSI, measured through the delivery hose.
Operators should never open a tank under pressure and should ensure air pressure does not exceed 125 PSI. Only cleaning fluids approved by the engine manufacturer should be used. Personnel must be trained and authorized to perform engine-wash procedures to prevent injury or equipment damage.
Before each use, inspect for damage, fill the tanks with approved cleaning and rinse fluids, and secure the lids. After connecting to shop air, set the pressure regulator to the desired level and charge each vessel by toggling the three-way valve between neutral, wash, and rinse positions.
Select the appropriate tank using the three-way valve, then manually connect the output hose to the chosen tank’s quick-disconnect port. Each tank remains pressurized, thanks to built-in check valves that prevent fluid loss during switching, ensuring a smooth transition between wash and rinse operations.
The output filter should be inspected periodically and cleaned with fresh water. If fluid flow becomes restricted, replace the filter element immediately to maintain proper output pressure and prevent contamination of the wash system.
The washer’s filter assembly uses the H-2792 output filter, which can be serviced with the H-2808 replacement filter element. These components ensure that both the cleaning and rinsing fluids are properly filtered before being discharged into the engine.
After use, completely depressurize the tanks, disconnect the air and fluid hoses, and drain any residual fluid. Proper depressurization and cleaning prevent corrosion, ensure operator safety, and extend the life of the washer.
