Interface Devices NB-45 Nitrogen Booster, 500 to 4,500 PSI – Without Calibrated Gauges & Certificate
Need a Quote?
The Interface Devices NB-45 Nitrogen Booster increases low-pressure nitrogen from supply cylinders to high-pressure nitrogen up to 4,500 PSI, helping maximize gas usage and reduce cylinder waste during aircraft servicing.
Powered by shop air or an optional nitrogen drive, the NB-45 automatically cycles to compress nitrogen from low-pressure bottles and boost it to the required pressure. This process allows technicians to recover and use nitrogen that would otherwise remain unused once the bottle pressure equalizes with the system.
By pumping donor bottles down to approximately 200 PSIG, the NB-45 can provide up to 75% more usable nitrogen per cylinder, reducing nitrogen inventory requirements and lowering operational costs. The compact booster can be mounted on a wall, workbench, or portable bottle cart, allowing nitrogen to be transferred between cylinders or delivered directly to aircraft systems.
A regulator is required on the inlet gas supply, with a maximum input pressure of 3,000 PSIG.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The NB-45 Nitrogen Booster requires a minimum of 12 SCFM at 100 PSI to operate efficiently. This air supply powers the pneumatic system that drives the booster. Maintaining proper airflow ensures consistent performance and optimal boosting speed. Insufficient air supply may reduce efficiency or prevent proper cycling.
The NB-45 operates using compressed air or nitrogen to drive a pneumatic piston that boosts low-pressure nitrogen to higher pressures. It cycles automatically until the desired output pressure is reached. The unit uses a pressure ratio of approximately 45:1, meaning input drive pressure directly influences output pressure
The NB-45 provides an adjustable output pressure range from 500 to 4,500 PSI. This makes it suitable for a wide range of aircraft nitrogen servicing applications. The output pressure is controlled by adjusting the drive pressure and regulator settings. Always operate within the recommended safety limits.
A regulator is required to control the inlet nitrogen pressure and prevent overpressurization. The unit must not exceed 3,000 PSIG inlet pressure, as specified by the manufacturer. Proper regulation ensures safe operation and accurate boosting performance. It also helps protect internal components from damage.
Yes, the NB-45 can be mounted to most 3- or 4-bottle nitrogen carts, and some 2-bottle carts may also support installation. Mounting improves portability and allows for convenient aircraft servicing. Optional mounting brackets and guards are available to secure the unit.
No, the NB-45 nitrogen booster does not include a nitrogen regulator. A compatible regulator must be used to control the inlet pressure during operation. PJi offers a range of nitrogen regulators designed for various bottle configurations. Selecting the correct regulator is essential for safe and efficient use.
The NB-45 ships in a custom protective carton designed to prevent damage during transit. Customers can ship using their own carrier account or request a shipping quote. It is recommended to retain the original packaging for future transport, service, or recertification. Proper packaging helps protect the unit over time.
The NB-45 comes with a one-year factory warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Warranty claims must follow manufacturer guidelines and timelines. Always refer to the manual for complete warranty terms and conditions.
The NB-45 nitrogen booster is designed to operate in temperatures as low as -22°F (-30°C). This makes it suitable for use in a variety of environmental conditions. Proper storage in a clean, dry location is recommended when not in use. Environmental conditions can impact long-term performance.
The NB-45 is commonly used for hydraulic accumulator pre-charge, landing gear struts, and emergency blow-down bottles. These applications require controlled high-pressure nitrogen. The booster enables efficient servicing using existing nitrogen supplies. It is widely used in aviation maintenance operations.
The NB-45 allows operators to recover nitrogen from low-pressure cylinders and boost it to usable levels. This reduces waste and increases the amount of usable gas per bottle. As a result, fewer cylinders are required for servicing tasks. This leads to cost savings and improved operational efficiency.
Operators must ensure all components are clean, dry, and rated for high-pressure nitrogen use. The unit should be operated only by trained personnel, following proper procedures. Exceeding pressure limits or using improper equipment can result in serious hazards. Always follow manufacturer guidelines.
Yes, replacement gauges are available for the NB-45, including the 0 to 5,000 PSI calibrated gauge (11996). Using calibrated replacement components ensures accurate system monitoring. This helps maintain safe and reliable operation. Always verify compatibility when ordering replacement parts.
