QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What benefits does the Malabar 714A’s adjustable hand pump provide during aircraft maintenance?
Answer:

The Malabar 714A features an adjustable hand pump that allows technicians to change the handle length based on lifting conditions and load requirements. A shorter handle position increases pump stroke speed for quicker lifting under light loads, while a longer handle provides greater leverage for higher-pressure lifting operations. This flexibility helps improve lifting efficiency and operator control during aircraft maintenance procedures. The adjustable pump design also supports smoother positioning when lifting aircraft at precise jacking points.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
How do the spring-loaded swivel casters improve jack stability and maneuverability?
Answer:

The spring-loaded swivel casters help maintenance crews quickly position the aircraft tripod jack beneath the aircraft while it is unloaded. Once a load is applied, the casters automatically retract, allowing the jack footpads to rest firmly on the ground for added stability. This design improves both hangar mobility and lifting security during maintenance operations. Heavy-duty swivel casters also help technicians maneuver the 12-ton aircraft jack more efficiently around crowded maintenance areas.

Question:
Why is corrosion resistance important for an aircraft tripod jack?
Answer:

Aircraft maintenance environments often expose ground support equipment to moisture, hydraulic fluids, and harsh chemicals, making corrosion resistance critical for long-term durability. The Malabar 714A features a hard chrome-plated cylinder bore, plated metal components, and Skydrol-resistant paint to help protect against wear and corrosion. These features help extend the aircraft jack's service life while maintaining dependable lifting performance. Corrosion-resistant construction is especially valuable for operators working in coastal, humid, or high-use maintenance facilities.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
What is the purpose of the optional 36" leg extension kit?
Answer:

The optional 36" leg extension kit increases the total extended height of the jack from 114" to 150". This added height capability allows the Malabar 714A to support additional aircraft applications that require elevated lifting positions during maintenance or landing gear servicing. The extension kit is designed for straightforward installation using interchangeable components and existing hardware. It also enables compatibility with aircraft such as the ATR 42, ATR 72, Dash 7, Dash 8, and other elevated jacking configurations.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
How does the optional air-operated hydraulic pump improve maintenance efficiency?
Answer:

The optional air-operated hydraulic pump allows technicians to raise the aircraft jack using compressed air rather than relying solely on manual pumping. This can reduce operator fatigue and improve productivity during repetitive aircraft lifting operations in busy maintenance environments. The pneumatic system requires an air supply of 90 to 125 PSIG and is designed to support smoother, more consistent lifting performance. Air-assisted operation is especially useful in MRO facilities that frequently service regional airliners and commercial aircraft.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
Why is proof-load testing important for aircraft jacks?
Answer:

The Malabar 714A is factory proof-load tested at 150% of its rated capacity to verify structural integrity and lifting reliability before entering service. Proof-load testing is an important aviation industry quality-control measure that confirms the jack can safely withstand loads beyond standard operating conditions. This testing process helps reduce the risk of equipment failure during aircraft maintenance operations. It also provides additional confidence for maintenance teams working on valuable aircraft assets.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
What advantages does the optional load gauge provide during lifting operations?
Answer:

The optional load gauge helps technicians monitor hydraulic pressure and approximate lifting loads during aircraft jacking procedures. This added visibility can help crews detect uneven loading conditions and maintain more controlled aircraft lifting operations. Load monitoring is particularly beneficial during landing gear maintenance, shoring, and aircraft balancing procedures. The gauge system also supports improved operational awareness during critical maintenance tasks.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
How does the tow handle improve the transport and positioning of the jack?
Answer:

The optional tow handle allows the aircraft tripod jack to connect readily to a tow vehicle for easier transportation around the hangar or ramp. This feature simplifies the movement of the approximately 725-lb jack between aircraft maintenance locations. Improved mobility can help reduce setup time and make repositioning safer and more efficient for maintenance personnel. Malabar specifies a maximum towing speed of 5 mph for safe transport operations.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
Why is regular maintenance important for the Malabar 714A aircraft jack?
Answer:

Routine maintenance helps ensure the aircraft jack continues operating safely and reliably throughout its service life. Malabar recommends checking hydraulic fluid levels, lubricating pivot points, greasing swivel casters, and inspecting the tripod structure for wear or damage. Periodic operation of the jack during storage also helps maintain seal condition and hydraulic performance. Preventative maintenance practices can help reduce downtime and extend the operational lifespan of the aircraft tripod jack.

Asked May 19, 2026
Question:
What long-term service support is available for the Malabar 714A?
Answer:

Malabar provides ongoing in-service support, replacement parts, and repair kits to help operators maintain the jack over time. The available 714APK repair kit includes commonly replaced seals and components needed for overhaul and servicing procedures. Specialized tools, replacement pumps, load gauges, air pump kits, and other service parts are also available directly from the manufacturer. This level of support helps maintenance facilities minimize downtime and maintain reliable aircraft jacking operations.
