The Tronair 06-5022-6500-A7 Military Reservoir Service Unit is engineered to support contamination control in aircraft hydraulic systems through the servicing process.
There are three primary contaminants for hydraulic fluid: dirt, air, and water. The unit will remove dirt, metal, or other solid particles with a 2-micron filter located in the output (servicing) line. Recirculating the fluid prior to servicing removes particulate contamination from the servicing line and couplings. This will also remove air, which will be visible in the transparent return hose. Pressure and vacuum valves in the reservoir fill cap minimize tank breathing and thereby control the entry of water into the fluid.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Tronair 06-5022-6500-A7 Reservoir Service Unit is designed to service and maintain aircraft hydraulic systems while preventing contamination. It removes dirt, metal particles, air, and moisture from hydraulic fluid using a built-in 2-micron inline filter and recirculation process. This ensures only clean, air-free hydraulic fluid enters the aircraft system for reliable maintenance operations.
The Tronair 06-5022-6500-A7 features a 2-gallon (7.6-liter) stainless steel reservoir, sealed to minimize water ingress. This capacity allows efficient servicing for most aircraft hydraulic systems without frequent refilling, making it ideal for both field and hangar use.
Yes, the service unit includes a replaceable 2-micron filter element that captures fine contaminants during servicing. Tronair recommends replacing the filter when increased handle force is noticed during pumping or at least once per year for low-usage units. Regular filter maintenance helps preserve fluid cleanliness and extend the longevity of the hydraulic system.
To operate, fill the reservoir with the specified fluid, connect the hoses, and use the hand pump to purge air and recirculate fluid through the filter before servicing. Once air bubbles are no longer visible in the clear return line, the system is ready for use. Each pump cycle dispenses approximately one quart every 15 to 17 strokes, ensuring controlled and consistent fluid delivery.
Operators should ensure the correct fluid type is used and that the fill cap remains securely closed during operation to prevent moisture contamination. The pressure relief and vacuum valves are designed to minimize tank “breathing,” reducing water vapor intrusion. All servicing should occur in a dry, controlled environment to maintain hydraulic integrity.
The 06-5022-6500-A7 hand pump produces a maximum output pressure of 200 PSI (13.8 bar), suitable for aircraft hydraulic servicing applications. This output ensures efficient and controlled transfer of hydraulic fluid without over-pressurizing aircraft components.
Routine maintenance includes inspecting hoses for leaks or cracks, replacing filter elements as needed, and performing regular cleaning using PD-680 solvent as described in Tronair’s cleaning and flushing procedure. The system should also be recirculated after long storage periods to remove trapped air and moisture.
For short-term storage (under three months), the unit can remain filled, provided it’s kept upright and covered. For extended storage, all hydraulic fluid should be drained, hose ends should be plugged, and the unit should be protected from moisture, direct sunlight, and freezing temperatures. A non-abrasive cover is recommended for outdoor storage.
Yes. PJi offers OEM replacement components, including the HK-3682 Hand Pump Seal Kit, K-3659 Filter Element Kit, and Z-1698-01 Hose Assembly. Using only authorized Tronair spare parts preserves system performance and warranty coverage.
The Tronair 06-5022-6500-A7 is backed by a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Replacement parts are covered by a 90-day warranty from the date of shipment. Unauthorized modifications or the use of non-Tronair components will void the warranty.
