VIAVI to Cease Production of IFR4000 and IFR6000 Avionics Testing Units in 2023

Since the early 2000s, VIAVI Solutions' IFR4000 and IFR6000 avionics test units have supported global maintenance testing for a variety of airborne systems. These test sets have reached the end of their life cycle, paving the way for a new, comprehensive all-in-one test solution: VIAVI’s AVX-10K Communication, Navigation, & Surveillance Flight Line Test Set, which launched in April 2021.

VIAVI understands that it takes time and a coordinated effort to replace equipment identified in an aircraft maintenance manual or aircraft test procedures. Therefore, the company wants to ensure that customers have ample time, information, and support to make these changes. VIAVI will gladly support redlining existing procedures to accommodate the AVX-10K’s operation in place of the referenced test equipment.

IFR4000 and IFR6000 End-of-Production Dates

VIAVI has provided the following information to support important dates, product roadmap details, and last-time-buy opportunities for the IFR4000 and IFR6000 units.

The company plans to continue manufacturing and accepting orders leading up to the planned end-of-production dates below:

Model Planned End-of-Production Date
IFR4000 12/31/2023
IFR4000-EMB 12/31/2023
IFR6000 12/31/2023
IFR6000-EMB 12/31/2023

Remaining Inventory of IFR4000 and IFR6000 Units

Orders for both the IFR4000 and IFR6000 units will be accepted beyond the end-of-production date, provided there is inventory to support these requests.

Service and Support for the IFR4000 and IFR6000

End of service is contingent on the availability of the supporting component. The projected end of service is December 31, 2028, five years following the end of manufacturing.

While no new units will be produced after this year, IFR4000 and IFR6000 test units will remain available to rent or purchase as long as we have inventory.
