Asked May 28, 2023
Question:
What is the difference between a two-channel and a three-channel flight data test set?
Answer:

Two-channel testers are made for the majority of all aircraft. Three-channel testers are specifically designed for aircraft equipped with SmartProbe™ technology, including (but not limited to) the Dassault X Series, Gulfstream 550 and 650, Bombardier 8000, HondaJet, Phenom 300, and Legacy Series aircraft.

Asked May 31, 2023
Question:
Is the hose kit included with this unit?
Answer:

No, the hose kit does not come included with the Laversab 6300-W. However, the kit is offered with the unit at the time of the quote.

Asked May 31, 2023
Question:
Is this unit able to work without access to Wi-Fi?
Answer:

All Laversab air data test sets have their own built-in Wi-Fi network. Thus, they do not require a connection to a shop's or hangar's Wi-Fi. The network is between the air data test set and the tablet being used, so this will not reach out to the Internet. This Wi-Fi technology is used to control your test set remotely if needed.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
Is the 6300-W considered a hazmat item?
Answer:

No. Only air data test sets with batteries are considered hazardous materials. We are able to ship units according to FAA/DOT requirements and material data safety sheets (MSDS) are available for the batteries with these units if needed.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
Do I need to send my battery back along with my 6300-W for calibration?
Answer:

No, you are not required to send your battery back when you are sending in your 6300-W unit for calibration. We are able to calibrate these units without the battery pack included with your unit.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
How are the "-W" and "-NG" models different from the previous "-L" model?
Answer:

There are several differences between the original air data test sets (now labeled "-L") and the new "-W" and "-NG" units. The main difference is that the newer models are more affordable and modern for the customer.

These units have now incorporated an iPad/tablet to control them via Wi-Fi! They have also included an additional transducer to monitor ground at all times, so you no longer have to use Functions 7 and 8, which was an issue with older models.

Designed to be much lighter than the older models, these newer units will be upgraded with even more innovations and new displays in the future.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
Will this Laversab air data test set work with Cobra System adapters?
Answer:

Yes! Every Laversab air data test set will work with adapters supplied by Nav-Aids, Ltd. or Cobra Systems/Ateq Aviation, as these adapters are universal.

Some brands may require reducers, as they can have #3, #4, and #6 AN fittings. So it's always a good idea to have these fittings on hand, in case you need them.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
Is an iPad needed for this unit?
Answer:

No, an iPad is not required for this unit. However, it does make the operational features of this test set much easier. The primary reason is that you have the advantage of a touchscreen versus the remote control that comes with the unit.

If you're looking to purchase an iPad with your Air Data Test Set, please let us know and we will happily include one on your quote.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
Do Laversab air data test kits come with an iPad or tablet?
Answer:

No, iPads and tablets are not included with a standard unit. However, we are able to quote bundled packages that include an iPad or tablet.

The iPad is a highly recommended addition, as it provides more ease of use through its own app. If you need an iPad quoted with your Air Data Test Kit, please let us know and we will be happy to include this for you.

Asked June 5, 2023
Question:
If I already have a 6300-W unit, would I be able to purchase the additional Encoder, Heater, and Battery options separately at a later date?
Answer:

Since the 6300-W units are specifically made to order, you would not be able to alter your unit by including the Heater, Encoder, and Battery options by yourself. However, we can coordinate a repair/upgrade to add these features to your unit for you.

Please let us know at the time of request if you would like your Laversab 6300-W with any additional options so we can be sure to provide exactly what you need.

Asked July 24, 2023
Question:
Does the 6300-W have dual pumps?
Answer:

Yes! The 6300-W is equipped with both pressure pumps for the pitot system and vacuum pumps for the static system.

Asked November 3, 2023
Question:
Is this unit approved for use on the Boeing 737 MAX?
Answer:

The 6300-W Pitot-Static Test Set is approved for Boeing aircraft. However, if the B737 Max you're working with has variants that include Smart Probes, the 6600-NG 3-Channel Test Set would be needed.

Asked April 16, 2024
Question:
What fittings come standard on this unit?
Answer:

The 6300-W comes standard with AN4 fittings. If you need AN6 or QD fittings, these can be changed for you. Please let your sales representative know at the time of order.
