QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What aircraft types are commonly serviced with the Tronair 40-ton tripod jack?
Answer:

The Tronair 02A7895C0100 is designed for use on a wide range of midsize and large commercial, military, and business aircraft. Its 40-ton capacity makes it suitable for lifting heavier airframes during maintenance, inspection, and repair operations. Operators typically use it for main-landing-gear jacking or complete aircraft elevation within approved weight limits. Always confirm compatibility with your Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) before use.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
Does the Tronair 40-ton tripod jack require routine calibration?
Answer:

Yes, jacks used in aviation maintenance must undergo periodic calibration and load-testing to ensure they perform accurately under rated loads. Calibration intervals are typically outlined by your MRO’s quality program or regulatory requirements, such as FAA or military guidelines. Routine certification helps verify that the safety valves, load gauges, and hydraulics function correctly. Keep calibration certificates on file to ensure accurate records for compliance audits.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
How should technicians store the tripod jack when not in use?
Answer:

The jack should be stored indoors, in a clean and dry environment, to prevent corrosion and hydraulic contamination. Lower the ram fully to relieve pressure on seals and extend their lifespan. Tronair also recommends securing the jack upright and locking the casters to prevent movement. Proper storage helps maintain long-term reliability and reduces the need for unplanned maintenance.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
Are special floor conditions required when operating the jack?
Answer:

A level, stable, and load-rated floor surface is essential when using a high-capacity tripod jack. Soft or uneven ground can cause instability or uneven load distribution during lifting. Many operators use steel plates or reinforced concrete pads to ensure safe support. Always follow facility safety protocols to prevent shifting or structural failure during jacking operations.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
How often should the hydraulic system be inspected?
Answer:

Hydraulic inspection intervals depend on usage frequency, environmental exposure, and organizational maintenance standards. Most operators perform a pre-use inspection for leaks, fluid levels, and smooth pump operation, followed by periodic in-shop servicing. Annual hydraulic checks are common in many aviation maintenance programs. Early detection of leaks or seal wear helps prevent operational failures.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
Does the 40-ton tripod jack require additional safety stands during use?
Answer:

Yes, aircraft maintenance best practices recommend using jack stands or secondary supports once the aircraft is raised. Tripod jacks are designed for lifting, not long-term load-bearing during extended maintenance. Using approved stands reduces risk in case of hydraulic pressure loss or accidental movement. Always reference the AMM for proper support points and procedures.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
Can the jack be transported across the hangar floor easily?
Answer:

The Tronair 40-ton tripod jack features casters designed for smooth movement on hangar floors, but care must be taken due to its weight and size. Slow, controlled movement reduces stress on the jack structure and prevents tipping. For long-distance transport or rough surfaces, use a tug-assist or lifting equipment. Proper handling maintains safety and extends equipment life.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
What safety steps should be taken before lifting an aircraft with this jack?
Answer:

Technicians should verify that jack points are approved for the aircraft model, confirm weight distribution, and ensure the jack is centered and level. Pre-use checks should include confirming hydraulic fluid levels, checking ram extension travel, and inspecting mechanical locks or safety valves. Operators must also clear all personnel from unsafe zones before lifting. Documenting pre-lift inspections supports compliance and safe operation.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
How does environmental temperature affect tripod jack performance?
Answer:

Hydraulic jacks rely on fluid viscosity, which changes with temperature. In cold weather, fluid may thicken, slowing the lifting process; in hot environments, low viscosity may reduce efficiency. Using the correct fluid grade helps maintain consistent performance across seasonal temperature swings. Storing the jack in climate-controlled environments further minimizes temperature-related performance issues.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
Are replacement parts readily available for the Tronair 02A7895C0100?
Answer:

Yes, PJi provides OEM replacement parts, including seals, hydraulic components, casters, and hardware kits for the Tronair 02A7895C0100 jack. Keeping common wear parts on hand reduces downtime during maintenance cycles. When ordering parts, referencing the jack’s model and serial number ensures proper compatibility

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
How does the jack’s overload protection system work?
Answer:

The built-in overload valve prevents the jack from lifting loads beyond its rated 40-ton capacity. When excessive force is applied, the valve opens to bypass hydraulic pressure, protecting the jack and preventing unsafe operation. This safety feature is crucial for preventing accidental overloading during maintenance. Always treat the overload valve as a protective measure – not a substitute for confirming aircraft weight.

Asked November 13, 2025
Question:
Does the jack require periodic lubrication?
Answer:

Yes, lubrication of moving joints, casters, and mechanical components is necessary to ensure smooth operation. Proper lubrication prevents rust, reduces friction, and extends the jack’s service life. Follow Tronair’s maintenance instructions for recommended lubrication intervals and materials. Avoid overlubrication, which can attract dirt and debris.
