Well built and functional. It is pretty, almost hangar art. The 4 wheel steering gives a very small turning radius. Also, the inch function allows one to creep up to the tow bar easily, without an additional person. Overall, very happy.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What type of input voltage is required to charge the Eagle ETT-12X electric tug?
Answer:

The Eagle ETT-12X electric tow tractor requires 480V, 3-phase input voltage for proper charging. This high-voltage configuration supports fast, efficient battery charging for extended operational use. It’s essential to ensure the correct power source is available in your facility before operating the unit.

Asked August 10, 2023
Question:
Where is the charging port located on the ETT-12X tug?
Answer:

The charging port for the ETT-12X is located on the left side of the unit, directly behind the operator’s seat. It features a spring-loaded protective door that stays closed when the unit is not in charging mode, helping to safeguard the port from debris and moisture during daily ramp operations.

Asked September 8, 2023
Question:
Is the Eagle ETT-12X CE marked for international compliance?
Answer:

No, the Eagle ETT-12X electric tow tractor is not CE marked. As with other Eagle and Tronair tow tractors, it is designed primarily for use in regions that do not require CE certification. Always consult local regulations if you're planning to operate this tug outside the U.S.

Asked May 31, 2024
Question:
How long does it take to fully charge the ETT-12X tug using a 480V charger?
Answer:

When using a standard 480V, 3-phase charger, the ETT-12X lithium battery can be fully recharged in approximately three to four hours. A full charge typically provides up to eight hours of operation, depending on towing conditions, payload, and ramp activity. This makes the ETT-12X a practical solution for both scheduled and continuous-duty cycles on the flight line.

Asked September 20, 2024
Question:
What type of battery system does the Eagle ETT-12X use?
Answer:

The Eagle ETT-12X electric aircraft tug is powered by a 648 Ah / 80V lithium-ion battery system. This high-capacity battery supports extended operating time and faster recharge cycles compared to lead-acid alternatives. It’s specifically engineered for reliability in aviation towing operations, minimizing downtime while maximizing performance. The battery is maintenance-free and supports regenerative braking for added energy efficiency.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
Can the ETT-12X be operated outdoors in rain or snow?
Answer:

Yes, the ETT-12X is built for rugged ramp environments and can be operated in a variety of weather conditions, including rain and snow. However, while the tug is weather-resistant, it is not waterproof, so extended exposure to extreme conditions should be avoided when not in use. Operators should follow Eagle’s storage and maintenance guidelines to protect the electrical components and preserve long-term reliability.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
Does the ETT-12X have regenerative braking?
Answer:

Yes, the ETT-12X features a regenerative braking system that helps extend battery life and improve energy efficiency. During deceleration, the electric motor recaptures kinetic energy and channels it back to the battery. This not only increases overall runtime but also reduces wear on mechanical brake components.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
What kind of tires does the ETT-12X use?
Answer:

The ETT-12X comes equipped with heavy-duty, non-marking industrial tires designed for safe towing on airport ramps and hangar floors. These tires support high towing loads while ensuring traction and maneuverability under various surface conditions. Proper tire inflation and inspection are critical for safe operation and long service life.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
How do you perform routine maintenance on the ETT-12X?
Answer:

Routine maintenance for the ETT-12X includes visual inspections, cleaning of electrical components, lubrication of mechanical joints, and scheduled software checks. Unlike internal combustion tugs, the electric system requires no oil changes or fuel management, making upkeep simpler and more cost-effective. Always refer to Eagle’s maintenance manual for specific schedules and authorized service procedures.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
Can the ETT-12X be used with towbarless systems?
Answer:

No, the ETT-12X is designed specifically for use with standard towbar-based aircraft towing systems. Its dual-tire front wheel design and wide tow bar hitch plate are optimized for traditional ground handling procedures. It is compatible with a wide range of commercial and military aircraft that use towbars with standard pintle hook configurations.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
What is the recommended storage procedure for long periods of inactivity?
Answer:

When storing the ETT-12X for extended periods, the battery should be charged to 50% to 70% and the unit should be parked in a cool, dry hangar environment. Disconnect the charging system and perform a full inspection before storage. Eagle recommends periodic checks on the battery’s charge state during storage to prevent deep discharge and to preserve battery health.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
What safety features are built into the ETT-12X?
Answer:

The ETT-12X includes multiple built-in safety systems, such as redundant braking, programmable speed controls, LED lighting, and an integrated horn. The tug also features emergency stop switches and automatic brake application when the operator is not seated. These systems are essential for meeting safety protocols on crowded ramps and hangar aprons.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
What is the expected lifespan of the ETT-12X battery?
Answer:

The lithium-ion battery system in the ETT-12X is rated for several thousand charging cycles, typically offering 8 to 10 years of service under normal use. Factors like temperature, charging frequency, and load usage can affect overall lifespan. Regular monitoring and proper charging practices will help ensure optimal battery performance over time.

Asked July 30, 2025
Question:
What is the towbar height compatibility range for the ETT-12X?
Answer:

The standard pintle hitch height of the ETT-12X accommodates a wide variety of towbar types for regional, business, and military aircraft. Adjustable towbar configurations can also be integrated to match specific aircraft requirements. Always verify the towbar's connection and clearance prior to each operation to prevent mishaps.
