This tow bar head is very reliable, but only issue is the release pin can be stretched out if too much pressure is applied.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What aircraft is the Tronair 01-0571-0011 towbar head designed to service?
Answer:

The Tronair 01-0571-0011 multi-head towbar attachment is specifically engineered for the Bombardier CRJ-100, CRJ-200, Challenger 850, and Hawker 4000 aircraft. Using the correct aircraft-specific towbar head ensures proper tow point engagement and minimizes stress on the nose landing gear. Selecting the approved head attachment is critical for safe aircraft ground handling operations.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What role does shear protection play in aircraft towing safety?
Answer:

Shear protection is designed to absorb excessive towing loads before damage occurs to the aircraft's nose gear or towbar assembly. The shear pin acts as a mechanical safeguard, breaking under abnormal stress to prevent structural damage. This protective feature is essential in preventing costly aircraft repairs and enhancing ramp safety.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
Why must only Tronair OEM shear pins be used?
Answer:

The manual clearly specifies that only Tronair-approved shear pins should be installed. Using non-OEM pins may compromise load calibration and defeat the shear protection system. OEM components ensure the towbar head performs within certified load limits for safe aircraft towing.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
How does the sliding pin system improve towbar head performance?
Answer:

The 01-0571-0011 towbar head uses sliding pins to securely interface with the aircraft tow fitting. These pins must move freely within their housings to ensure proper engagement and load distribution. A properly maintained sliding pin system reduces wear, prevents binding, and supports smooth towing operations.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What are the inspection requirements before using this towbar head?
Answer:

Routine inspection should include checking welds, shear pins, sliding pins, bushings, and shear plates for cracks, bending, or excessive wear. Any damaged components must be removed from service immediately. Regular inspection ensures reliable performance and prevents unsafe towing conditions.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What is the maximum aircraft gross weight rating for this towbar head?
Answer:

The Tronair 01-0571-0011 is rated for aircraft up to 53,000 lbs gross weight. Exceeding this rating can result in excessive stress on the towbar and potential structural failure. Always verify aircraft weight before towing to maintain compliance with manufacturer guidelines.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
Which Tronair towbar models are compatible with this head attachment?
Answer:

This multi-head attachment is designed for use with Tronair towbar models 01-1201-0010, 01-1202-0000, 01-1215-0000, 01-1216-0000, and 01-1290-0100. Using compatible towbar assemblies ensures proper fitment and structural integrity. Pairing approved components is critical for safe aircraft ground handling.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What maintenance practices extend the service life of the towbar head?
Answer:

Maintaining proper shear plate clearance, ensuring sliding pins lock securely, and replacing worn bushings are key preventive measures. Technicians should also confirm that shoulder bolts do not clamp shear plates, as this can interfere with shear functionality. Proactive maintenance minimizes downtime and extends equipment lifespan.

Asked February 24, 2026
Question:
What warranty coverage applies to the Tronair 01-0571-0011?
Answer:

Tronair products are warranted against manufacturing or material defects for one year from the date of shipment to the original customer. Warranty coverage applies to the repair or replacement of defective components but excludes normal wear items. Following proper operating and maintenance procedures helps preserve warranty protection.
