QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
Can I use this jack with Beechcraft King Air aircraft?
Answer:

Yes, this tripod jack is compatible with Beechcraft King Air models equipped with high-flotation tires. For proper lifting and stability, you'll need three 02-7856C0100 jacks—two for the main gear and one for the nose gear. If your King Air is equipped with standard tires, Tronair recommends using three 02-0536C0110 jacks, which are better suited for aircraft with greater gear height. Always verify your aircraft’s configuration before selecting jacks to ensure safe operation.

Asked May 28, 2023
Question:
Is this jack compatible with the Bell 505 helicopter?
Answer:

No, the Tronair 02-7856C0100 tripod jack is not compatible with the Bell 505 helicopter. Tronair specifically recommends the 02-0517C0140 5-ton tripod jack for use with the Bell 505. Using the correct jack model ensures safe lifting, proper fit, and prevents damage to the aircraft during maintenance. Always refer to manufacturer guidelines or consult an aviation equipment specialist to confirm compatibility with your specific aircraft.

Asked June 30, 2023
Question:
What is the difference between jacks for high-flotation and standard tires? Can they be used interchangeably?
Answer:

Tripod jacks designed for high-flotation tire aircraft are generally shorter to accommodate the lower ground clearance of these aircraft. Aircraft equipped with standard tires sit higher, requiring taller jack models for proper positioning and lift range. Using the wrong jack height can lead to unsafe lifting angles or an inability to position the jack under the gear.

While you may be tempted to use one jack model across multiple aircraft, it’s best to match the jack height to the specific tire and gear configuration. If you’re unsure, PJi’s aviation support team can help you select the right solution.

Asked December 6, 2023
Question:
What type of hydraulic fluid is recommended for the Tronair 02-7856C0100 tripod jack?
Answer:

The 02-7856C0100 tripod jack is compatible with standard aviation hydraulic fluids such as MIL-PRF-5606 and similar petroleum-based types. Always refer to the aircraft manufacturer's service guidelines to ensure compatibility with your specific maintenance environment. Using the correct hydraulic fluid helps ensure consistent lift performance and prevents internal seal degradation.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
Can this tripod jack be used in outdoor maintenance settings?
Answer:

Yes, the 02-7856C0100 tripod jack is constructed with corrosion-resistant materials and is durable enough for outdoor use on ramps or tarmacs. However, operators should take standard precautions in adverse weather conditions, including ensuring the jack is on level, firm ground, and protected from debris or moisture accumulation.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
How should I transport the 02-7856C0100 safely between hangar areas?
Answer:

This tripod jack includes integrated handles and a wide base for stable handling, but it should always be moved by two personnel or with a lifting cart if possible. Lower the jack fully before moving and secure all components to avoid tipping or damage during transport.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
Is periodic inspection or maintenance required for this jack?
Answer:

Yes, Tronair recommends regular inspections of the jack’s hydraulic cylinder, legs, and base for wear, corrosion, or fluid leakage. Jacks should be load-tested annually and serviced per the operator's manual to ensure reliable and safe operation during aircraft maintenance.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
Can the 02-7856C0100 be stored upright?
Answer:

For safety and longevity, it’s best to store the tripod jack in a fully retracted position with the legs locked and upright in a designated storage area. To preserve seals and components, protect the unit from dust and direct exposure to chemicals or extreme temperatures.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
How does the locking collar contribute to safety during use?
Answer:

The mechanical safety locking collar is a key feature that supports the load in the event of hydraulic pressure loss. Once the aircraft is lifted to the desired height, the collar should be manually threaded down to bear the load, ensuring stability during extended maintenance tasks.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
Is this tripod jack compatible with low-clearance aircraft?
Answer:

The 02-7856C0100 is designed specifically for aircraft with high-flotation gear, which tend to sit lower to the ground. Its lower closed height makes it easier to position under these types of aircraft compared to jacks with standard tire clearance.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
What is the leg spread range of the tripod base?
Answer:

The tripod base is engineered for maximum stability and features a fixed leg spread angle that evenly distributes weight and prevents tipping. While the exact spread is fixed during manufacturing, the wide stance ensures optimal support during aircraft lifting procedures.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
Can this jack be used with aircraft equipped with axle jack points only?
Answer:

No, this tripod jack is intended for aircraft models that have dedicated fuselage or wing jack points. It is not designed to engage directly with axle points and should not be used for wheel-only lifting.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
What types of aircraft maintenance tasks is this jack commonly used for?
Answer:

The 02-7856C0100 is typically used for landing gear servicing, brake and tire changes, and gear swing tests on compatible aircraft. Its 5-ton capacity and adjustable height range make it suitable for supporting medium- to large-size aircraft during critical undercarriage maintenance.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
Is the Tronair tripod jack equipped with overload protection?
Answer:

While the jack includes a mechanical safety collar to support loads, it does not feature an integrated hydraulic overload bypass. Operators must adhere to the rated load capacity and follow proper procedures to avoid exceeding the unit’s specifications.

Asked July 24, 2025
Question:
How do I know if the jack is fully extended during use?
Answer:

The jack includes visible stroke markings or guidelines to indicate maximum extension. Operators should monitor these marks to avoid overextension, which could compromise safety or damage the hydraulic cylinder.
