QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question:
What aircraft is the Tronair 02-7861C0100 axle jack designed for?
Answer:

The Tronair 02-7861C0100 is a 12-ton hydraulic axle jack specifically intended for use on the nose landing gear of select Eurocopter, Bell, Comac, Embraer, and Leonardo (AgustaWestland) aircraft. Because this jack is engineered to match the nose gear geometry, load profiles, and clearance requirements of these specific platforms, it should not be used on aircraft outside its approved application. Operators should always cross-reference the aircraft's maintenance manual to confirm compatibility and determine the appropriate nose gear jacking procedures before commencing any maintenance operation.

Question:
What is the weight capacity of the Tronair 02-7861C0100?
Answer:

The Tronair 02-7861C0100 has a vertical lifting capacity of 24,000 lbs (10.9 metric tons), equivalent to 12 tons. This rating represents the maximum safe working load, and the jack must never be loaded beyond this capacity during any lifting or support operation. For annual jack function load testing, the applied test load must equal the jack's rated capacity plus 10%, and must not exceed that value under any circumstances.

Question:
What are the height and extension specifications of the 02-7861C0100?
Answer:

The Tronair 02-7861C0100 has a minimum closed height of 3-3/4” (9.5 cm) and a maximum fully extended height of 12-5/8" (32.1 cm). The total reach is achieved through a combination of a 1-1/16” (2.7 cm) mechanical extension and a 7-13/16” (19.8 cm) four-stage hydraulic extension. At 15.5” long, 4.5” wide, and 44.9 lbs, the 02-7861C0100 is compact and manageable enough for both hangar and ramp deployment.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
How do the mechanical and hydraulic extensions work together on the 02-7861C0100?
Answer:

The 02-7861C0100 uses both a mechanical extension and a four-stage hydraulic ram to achieve precise positioning and lifting capability. The mechanical extension is screwed out manually to bring the ram as close as possible to the aircraft jack pad before pumping begins, minimizing the amount of hydraulic travel needed to engage the landing gear and improving stability during the lift. Once the mechanical extension is properly set, the Hi/Low hand pump pressurizes the hydraulic system to raise the aircraft to the desired maintenance height.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
What hydraulic fluid is required for the Tronair 02-7861C0100?
Answer:

The 02-7861C0100 aircraft axle jack uses standard MIL-PRF-5606 hydraulic fluid exclusively. Before each use, technicians should verify that the hydraulic pump reservoir is filled with fluid, checked with the rams in their fully collapsed position. During maintenance, old hydraulic fluid should be completely flushed from the system and replaced with fresh, clean MIL-PRF-5606 fluid to protect internal seals and components from contamination and premature degradation.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
How do you use the Tronair 02-7861C0100 to raise the nose landing gear?
Answer:

To raise the nose landing gear with the 02-7861C0100, place the jack on a hard, level surface and use the mechanical extension to position the ram as close as possible to the aircraft jack pad. Chock the aircraft tires with the gear not raised, connect the pump hose, and open the reservoir vent screw – opening the vent screw before operating is mandatory and must never be omitted. With the vent open, close the pump release valve and operate the Hi/Low hand pump to hydraulically lift the nose gear to the required maintenance height. Hands must never be placed between the aircraft and the jack pad during any phase of the jacking operation.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
How do you safely lower an aircraft using the 02-7861C0100?
Answer:

To lower an aircraft with the 02-7861C0100, slightly open the pump release valve to allow the jack to descend in a slow, controlled manner. The release valve should be opened gradually – a rapid or uncontrolled descent risks damage to the aircraft structure, the jack, or injury to nearby personnel. Before initiating the lowering sequence, confirm that all maintenance activities are complete, that the landing gear is clear of obstructions, and that all personnel and equipment are clear of the aircraft's movement path.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
What pre-use checks should be performed on the 02-7861C0100 before each operation?
Answer:

Before each use of the 02-7861C0100, technicians should refer to the Illustrated Parts List to confirm all components are present, then check all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness to ensure structural integrity. The hydraulic fluid level should be verified with the rams completely collapsed – the pump reservoir must be filled to the correct level and replenished with MIL-PRF-5606 fluid as needed. These pre-use checks are essential safeguards that help prevent operational failures and protect both the aircraft and maintenance personnel during landing gear servicing.

Asked May 4, 2026
Question:
What maintenance is required to keep the Tronair 02-7861C0100 in serviceable condition?
Answer:

Routine maintenance of the 02-7861C0100 includes checking and tightening all fasteners, verifying hydraulic fluid levels, and replacing all O-rings and backup rings whenever the jack is disassembled. Tools must never make contact with the critical sealing surfaces of internal components during maintenance, as surface deformities cause seal degradation and fluid leakage. During service events, all hydraulic fluid should be flushed from the system and replaced with clean MIL-PRF-5606 fluid, and cap screws must be torqued to 50 ft-lbs using the standard cross-torque procedure during reassembly.
