Air Manifold Kits

An air manifold kit is a system that routes shop air from a single inlet to multiple output ports, allowing several aircraft jacks (or pneumatic tools) to be operated simultaneously. In the context of jacks, this allows maintenance crews to distribute compressed air to multiple jack air pumps from a single central location. Because it uses valved outlet lines, the manifold allows you to control each jack independently – raising or lowering one jack without affecting the others.

That depends on the model. For example, the Tronair K-1106 air manifold kit supports three jacks simultaneously (one inlet with three valved outputs). There are also kits like the Tronair K-4220 that support four output hoses from a single location.

Using a manifold kit simplifies hose routing, reduces clutter, and consolidates control to a central hub. It reduces the number of separate airline runs to each jack, making it easier to isolate or turn off specific jacks during multi-jack lifts. This centralized control improves safety, efficiency, and flexibility in coordinated lift operations.

Essential features include durable materials (such as steel or corrosion-resistant metals), quick-disconnect fittings, shut-off valves per outlet, sufficient hose length, pressure ratings that match jack specifications, and portability. The manifold should also be rated for the shop air pressure used and include reliable sealing and valve mechanisms to prevent leaks.

Manifold kits should match or exceed the maximum pressure of the air pumps on the jacks, which is typically around 140 PSI or higher; however, verify this with the jack manufacturer's specifications. As for hose length, kits like the Tronair K-1106 come with 25-ft (7.6 m) hoses for each output. Ensure the pressure drop over the hose length is acceptable for proper jack function.

Routine inspections should include checking for leaks, inspecting hoses and connectors for wear, verifying valve operation, and cleaning or replacing filters or debris screens as needed. Seals, O-rings, and quick-disconnect fittings should be replaced if signs of degradation appear. Regular preventative maintenance ensures reliability when performing multi-jack lifts.

If one jack loses pressure (due to a leak or failure), the manifold’s isolation valve allows you to cut off the affected jack while maintaining pressure to the others. This helps preserve lift control across remaining jacks and improves safety because you can respond to the issue without collapsing the entire lift.

Quality manifold kits, such as the Tronair K-1106, are built to be lightweight and portable. A compact design and included hoses make it practical to relocate between aircraft or maintenance bays as needed.
