QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
No. Additional software options, such as ADS-B OPT 3, can be added on to your purchase to expand the testing capabilities of the unit. These additional options can also be purchased at a later date and uploaded remotely.
The IFR6000 with TCAS I/II (Option 2) is commerce-controlled – not state – meaning it is not ITAR.
No. However, the FAA does recommend that antenna coupling kits be used when performing ADS-B OUT system checks. With the Viavi Universal Transponder Antenna Coupler (UC-584), you can prevent radio frequency leakage when running tests on your aircraft that could affect local air traffic control towers.
We have a resource that you can review regarding SAFO 17002, issued by the FAA, that further explains the purpose of utilizing an antenna coupler when performing these tests. You can view this resource here.
Yes, the IFR6000 can support ADS-B testing! The unit even has an ADS-B Integrity option that will work in unison with a GPS Signal Generator and ADS-B Out to formulate compliance reports and a detailed analysis of system latency.
These are only a few of the capabilities that the IFR6000 can offer. This unit also has TCAS and UAT options you can add to further expand its functionality.
Unfortunately, yes. The IFR6000 Flight Line Test Set is being discontinued. However, it will be replaced by VIAVI's own AVX-10K-CNS model.
The new AVX-10K will have all the same capabilities as the IFR6000 and will even have configurations to perform IFR4000 capabilities as well.
Yes! If you already have an IFR6000 or plan to purchase software options at a later date, you can purchase these options separately and add them to your unit. This process can be done remotely, or if you would like to send your unit in for an update, we can help with that as well! Reach out to us if you are interested in getting software options added to your IFR6000 unit.
Both of these options play a vital part in the IFR6000's ADS-B capabilities. If you purchase Option 3 with your IFR6000 unit, you are able to determine pass/fail directly from the IFR unit itself.
If you purchase Option 3 and Option 6, you also gain access to software that allows you to print a report with more specific information at the particular point where the unit is located. You can also purchase the GPSG-1000 to retrieve a full report from your unit since you are able to simulate GPS data points and locations.
Most of the software upgrades for the IFR6000 will consist of only files to be uploaded to your existing IFR6000 unit. The only software options where physical components (hardware) are also supplied would be Option 5 (UAT) and Option 6 (ADS-B Integrity).
The IFR6000 will come with the following components:
- IFR6000 Transponder Test Set
- Transit Case
- 110V Power Cord
- 220V Power Cord Set
- 12" TNC/TNC Coaxial Cable
- 72" TNC/TNC Coaxial Cable
- 5-Amp 32V Fuse
- Antenna
- Antenna Shield
- Breakout Box
- Power Supply
- Getting Started Manual (CD)
- Operation Manual (CD)
The IFR6000-EMB is the Embraer configuration of the IFR6000. The "-EMB" will come with TCAS and ADS-B preloaded, as well as 110V and 220V cord sets, a desktop stand, and a tripod/stand/dolly.
Yes. The warranty for the IFR6000 remains valid beyond the December 2023 phase-out, ensuring support for calibration and service until 2028.
The official calibration interval starts on the date of first use. If your newly purchased IFR6000 unit has an outdated calibration certificate, you can adjust it to match the actual first-use date.
